The Beach Lodge

On Saturday we spent the afternoon in downtown Ventura having lunch at one of our fave restaurants; shopping a market fair made up of local small biz makers, creatives, & vintage merchants; we enjoyed some gelato before walking to the Ventura pier and taking in the fresh air and the calmness of the surroundings. On our way home we stopped at McConnell’s ice cream for a second round of cool desserts because somehow, we were given a warm summer day in November. The only way i...t could have been more perfect was if home was The Beach Lodge for the weekend. The luxury of a staycation though is that just a short distance away, you can find yourself ending the day at a beach house, watching the sunset from the balcony, and breathing the ocean air mask-free. The kind of you get when it’s 86 in the middle of November.

Finally got to stay at the Lodge again. I had a list of to-do items ready to tackle then decided to be a guest instead. See, when we’re home, the kids are in their own rooms most of the time going to school, hanging out with their friends hardly hearing from them. It feels like we live separate lives under one roof. So while some may think the creaky floors here at The Beach Lodge need fixing, to me it’s honestly a welcome sound of a house that is alive. The main things on the to-do list are checked off, we got to feel like true guests, and the Lodge is ready to welcome you in creaky floors, whistling winds and all.

One last look around the Lodge before the guests arrive. There’s never a time that I don’t spot something that needs my attention I’m sure you’re the same when guests are about to arrive in your home. But what we have to remember is that when our homes capture the essence of us, our guests will always feel welcome and right at home.

A perfect start to a Sunday always involves time with a stack of books for me getting lost in their pages and letting creativity start to brew. But instead it’s a 6:30 wake up call to walk the very timely new , followed by corralling the not-(yet)-so welcoming and tackling a pile of laundry instead. Oh well a girl can dream of her next stay at The Beach Lodge, right?

Seasons change, and so does the Beach Lodge wardrobe. But doesn’t mean losing our identity if anything, it shows you the depth of it. Come see for yourself.

1 day. That’s how much time we finally had The Beach Lodge to ourselves. And just like every other time it’s been our turn, the cool, ocean air that welcomed us was immediately invigorating. I was hoping to have some time to play figure out what change of wardrobe we would transition to for , take some , have a little shelfie fun. But things are never as I’d hoped for lately; instead it was about changing out the TV, organizing the storage closet, replacing the batteries, lightbulbs, yada, yada, yada. So here’s a little throwback of how it can look when I do get to play at least for a little bit.
