1994 was a good year. After twelve years of being an itinerant company, the theater gods helped us find our first proper home. We converted a high ceilinged warehouse in Hollywood into a spacious theater and opened our smaller developmental space, El Centro, next door. The Actors’ Gang has been a breeding ground for punk rock art for almost 4 decades. Art is and will always be a critical revolutionary act. Now, more than ever, we rely on your support to continue to create bold theater, the kind that pushes boundaries and challenges the status quo. Guebri tightens the screws on a lot of what happens around our theater. When she's not filling the stage with her cosmic mother earth spirit, she's climbing some stairs or hanging some lights or teaching some kids or playing a game or watering a plant. She keeps our circus going through gentle love, the most generous of spirits, and so much more. We sort of suspect she never sleeps and she has two hearts. We're pretty sure she's magic by Ersin Dogruer

Media Park, outside our theater, in Culver City, has been occupied by giggles and blankets and children every August weekend since we did our first Free Shakespeare in the Park for families in 2007. It’s a tradition we have been able to continue with our community’s support for 13 years. This year we had to take a break for the first time but we promise a monumental return in the summer of 2021! Until then, we carry all of you in our hearts! Now, more than ever, we rely on your support to continue our work for the community To make a gift - > https://theactorsgang.com/support-us/

An activist, actress, director, producer, fighter for justice, a beam of light, a leader of the movement, and the Vice Chair of our Board of Directors. Take your pick. Also, hilariously wacky. Gina Belafonte opens all of our hearts and continually inspires us with her firepower. Her beauty radiates inside and out. She’s a bright light for all she encounters and she’s a big huge engine of The Gang. We are in awe and immensely grateful for her dedication to The Gang by Ersin Dogruer

How can we revolutionize our theater world? Tim Robbins tells The New York Times, When theater returns it must return with danger. I think of roving bands of actors, post-plague, performing mock mystery plays on the street that lead, eventually, to a theater where people assemble.

Time and again, when things on stage go beserk in the most mesmerizing way, we find ourselves saying "that's a Steve". His name and spirit are in the room even when he's not and everytime he walks through the door, we know to put things aside and watch because zaniness is about to take over the stage. We all secretly hope that his comedic genius will rub off on all of us. Until then, we're grateful for the stomach aches. Steve's been contributing so much joy and brilliance to our community for longer than some of us have been alive. We're darn lucky to have him and somewhat willing to temporarily share him with you all again as soon as the theater opens #45secondsoflove by Ersin Dogruer

On our last international tour, we traveled with The New Colossus to Santiago a Mill Festival, in Chile, and to Festivales de Buenos Aires, in Argentina. Before we got there, we were worried that, by performing in front of a very large crowd, we might not be able to have the intimate conversations we always have with our audiences after the show. We were wrong. Not only did we hear so many voices, we also saw the beautifully inclusive power of solidarity in our audiences as t...hey applauded for those amongst them who were immigrants. What a life changing experience. Every night, after curtain call, we said goodbye to each other on El Derecho de Vivir en Paz by Victor Jara. It is with work like this that we can bridge the divide between people of all cultures. We hope you’ll consider continuing to support us in this critical time. Now, more than ever, we rely on your support to continue to create bold theater, the kind that pushes boundaries and challenges the status quo. #Tbt to 2001 when George Bigot returned to L.A. to retrain a theater company he inspired two decades earlier. A summer of intensive workshops led to a sublime and powerful production of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull. Now, more than ever, we rely on your support to create bold theater, the kind that pushes boundaries and challenges the status quo. To make a gift - > https://theactorsgang.com/support-us/

With your support, every year, over 2,000 children living at or below the poverty line enroll in one of the free education programs we are able to provide in 15 public schools in Los Angeles. Since March, we’ve been meeting our students in zoom rooms and keeping the fire lit in them until we can meet once again in a shared space. We are so looking forward to getting back in the classroom. We hope you’ll consider continuing to support our work through this difficult time. To make a gift - > www.theactorsgang.com/support-us

Since 2006, over 1,000 incarcerated men, women and teenagers have participated in our Prison Project programs. Many of them are still enrolled in the class and, happily, many have returned home. The work we do with The Prison Project is meant to give our students tools to cope with the environment they live in and to have an easier transition once they return to their communities. We have witnessed transformation over and over again over our last 14 years working with incarce...rated brothers and sisters. According to CDCR preliminary analysis, students who have completed our program have a 10.6% recidivism rate while California’s recidivism rate is 65%. We hope you’ll consider continuing to support our work as we continue our programs through distance learning in this difficult time. Now, more than ever, we rely on your support to continue our work with our incarcerated students. To make a gift - > https://theactorsgang.com/support-us/

#TBT to 1989 when we were invited as the United States representative at the Edinburgh Festival with Carnage, A Comedy, an original production written by Adam Simon and Tim Robbins.

A couple of years ago, after having already been working as a Teaching Artist with our Education Department for about a year, Luis stormed into the office with a piece of paper in his hand and sparkly walk. He proceeded to flaunt his pen in the air, and very sharply and with foolproof certainty announced that he was going to sign this paper (what we now realized was his resignation letter from his other job) and commit to being a teaching artist and a teaching artist only. We... already loved Luis a tremendous deal but his heart and spirit in that moment reminded us of what we should never loose sight of. Luis is music to this theater and to all of our lives. It’s rather hard to describe his spirit but if you watch this and look into his eyes for longer than 2 seconds, you might find yourself invaded by unjustified joy and you’ll understand. We find comfort in knowing that people like Luis walk this earth #45secondsoflove by Ersin Dogruer
