STUDENT HEALTH & SAFETY In light of recent local and global news, The CPR Lady wants you to know that your health and safety are a high priority. Currently the Orange County Health Care Agency, the California Department of Public Health and the CDC are not recommending the cancelation of public events, therefore our classes will continue as scheduled. In support of the various health agencies above, The CPR Lady recommends the following preventative steps be taken by all Stud...ents: Wash hands with soap and water Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth Cover coughs or sneezes Avoiding close contact with people who show symptoms of being sick. Most importantly, if you do not feel well and/or have experienced symptoms such as fever, cough, or body aches in the past 48 hours, stay home and contact The CPR Lady Office to reschedule your class. Take care of your health (and the health of those around you) by resting and recovering until you are symptom-free. The CPR Lady has taken additional steps to help promote a healthier environment at our facility by: Supplying hand sanitizer outside our facility’s front door to encourage you to disinfect your hands before entering our office. All equipment supplied to you during a class has been sanitized and is designed for your personal use only Any Student with a persistent cough will be asked to wear a surgical mask to respect other Students concerns regarding potential airborne contaminants. The CPR Lady Training Center will continue to monitor the various local and national health agency recommendations, and keep you posted on any further developments as it pertains to our class schedules. Prestan's CPR Rate Monitor allows for instant feedback to both instructor and student regarding the rate of chest compression. This allows each student to gauge their rate of compressions on their own as well as allowing the instructor to monitor several students quickly and easily. In addition, the manikin incorporates a mechanism ("depth" clicker) to help them use the correct force to compress the chest to the correct depth. Prestan manikins are designed as a clamshell that accommodates an easy-to-insert face shield/lung bag and with the patented face/head tilt, the Manikin simulates the way an actual victim's head would move if he required CPR. #prestans #thecprlady #cpr #infant #nurses #rnlife #emt #ems #lvn #dental #rdalife #rdhlife #dentist #irvine #orange

Since February is Black History Month and American Heart Month, I thought this article honoring both is appropriate. Daniel Hale Williams, an African American, was born in Hollidaysburg, Pa on January 18, 1856. He died on August 4, 1931, at Idlewild, Michigan, at the age of 75. Dr. Williams studied medicine at Chicago Medical College via Northwestern University. After earning his medical degree in 1883, he became one of Chicago’s first black physicians. This was a considerabl...e accomplishment for a black man during the post Civil War era. Dr. Williams is called the father of black surgery and is most remembered for the open-heart surgery he performed on July 9, 1893, in Chicago. A man had suffered a serious stab wound close to his heart in an area called the pericardium. The pericardium is multi-layered tissue that surrounds the heart and the adjacent large blood vessels. Using his cardinal skills, Dr. Williams repaired the injury and saved the man’s life. While being a major medical milestone, it was also only the second successful surgery of its kind, performed in the United States. https://coffeehousewriters.com/black-history-month-america/

Here you will see the feedback manikin with indicator lights. If there are no lights the depth is not at 2". A solid red indicates a rate of 0- 60, a solid yellow indicates a rate of 60-80. A solid green indicates a rate of 80- 100. Once you reach the low end compression rate of at least 100 compression's per minute a solid green light will appear. When your speed is between 100-122 two solid lights will appear. If at any point you did not go the required depth of 2" a flashing red light will appear and a clicking noise will not be present. If at any point your rate exceeds 120 compression's per minute a flashing yellow light will appear. #feedback #prestans #thecprlady #irvine #oc #cpr #ems #nurses #firefighters #paramedic #safety #rescue #adult
