The Village at Seven Oaks Assisted Living and Memory Care

In Honor of our Veterans, we held a prayer ceremony at the flag pole this morning. We followed it up with a fun car parade compliments of our families. We had an exceptional turn out for our Annual Halloween Event. This year we converted the event to a contactless Drive Thru Trunk or Treat, it was a huge success as we handed out candy to over 1000 trick or treaters. We can't wait to do it again next year. #vaso#toughtimesdon'tlasttoughteamsdo

It's that time of year again for our Annual Halloween Trick or Treat Extravaganza. This year we will be keeping it contactless, Please Join us for a Drive Thru Trunk or Treat Event - on Thursday October 29th, 2020 between 4PM - 6PM. There will be several Decorated Candy Stations around the community to view. All guests must stay in their vehicles and must wear a mask. We hope you can join us for some safe Halloween fun !!

Today we are showcasing our Super Star employee Reynaldo (Rey) Olea. Rey has been with the Village at Seven Oaks for the past 3 years and was recently promoted to Restaurant Manager. Rey is a Bakersfield Native and has been working with seniors for over 15 years. Rey loves what he does and it shows. When I asked Rey why he has choose to stay in this industry for so long, his answer was simple: " I genuinely love what I do and the residents that I'm privileged to serve." Rey stated that he doesn't have any biological grandparents, and to him his residents are his grandparents. When Rey is not at work he loves to work on his house and spend time with his family and friends (at a distance of course). We are truly blessed to have Rey as a part of our Village Family and appreciate and value him greatly.

The Kern County Fair is just another event to be cancelled this year due to COVID, but here at the Village at Seven Oaks we are celebrating the fair all month long. It wouldn't be a County Fair with out a Homemade Corn Dog, so today our Lifestyle Assistant Kayla assisted by Housekeeper Amy whipped up a batch of homemade corn dogs. Pineapple Upside Down Cake was on the menu today for our final cooking demonstration for August. As we wrap up our "Tastes of Hawaii" cooking series we are all excited to begin next months series " A Day at the Fair." Stay Tuned #VASO#inittogether

Care giver Dee Dee Powell and Med Tech Brittny Garner led our cooking demonstrations this week Dee Dee whipped up a batch of delicious chocolate chip cookies while our Assisted Living Residents patiently observed waiting to taste the treats, while Brittny and her Memory Care residents were feeling spicy, and whipped up some fresh guacamole... Both treats were executed perfectly, and our residents were simply satisfied. #inittogether#teamVASO

All of our residents are doing well and our community is currently COVID free. Today some of our residents enjoyed our weekly cooking demonstration as Chef Tanya and her Assistant Rey prepared Hawaiian Style Meatballs and Mai Tai's. #hawaiianmonth#inittogether

This week The Village at Seven Oaks learned that 3 of our residents have tested positive for COVID-19. Currently all 3 positive residents have been re-located to a special isolation wing for the safety of our other residents and staff. All 3 residents are doing well and remain symptom free.

Last Thursday our residents Arcy and Bud celebrated 66 years of Wedded Bliss. While Arcy and Bud now live on different sides of the community, their marriage is stronger than ever. While continuing to ensure their safety, we found a way for them to celebrate their day together. #marriagegoals #inittogether
