Today is World Teachers' Day. On this special day, we would like to thank all the teachers around the world, who keep striving to find solutions and to support ...learning environments for their students in order to allow education to continue. We also would like to share a special Teachers’ Day present with you. In 1965, Mario Montessori granted an interview to The Reader’s Digest, sharing some memories of his exceptional mother: Maria Montessori. First published in the American edition of this magazine, it soon found its way to some of the global editions of The Reader’s Digest. Visit our website to download the copies of this interview in English, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Norwegian, Spanish, and Swedish. https://montessori150.org//mario-montessori-my-most-unforg

Happy 150th to Dr. Maria Montessori! Let us start this academic year as Montessori says 'thinking of the child'. 'This is why we call our school, a House of Chi...ldren. They are not schools, not prisons, but open houses. The children go freely from one room to another. The teacher must know that some thing will happen, that the child is bound to become interested in something. She is in a much easier position than the teacher who worries constantly about what to do with each child, which child should be given which material at which age and also worries about all the things which the child is not doing. Such a teacher is always agitated. She is always thinking about what she wishes to do, what she must do. If instead, she would think of the child and not of herself, she could admiringly wait for something to happen.' (Montessori, 1998, p.301) Montessori, M. (1998) Creative Development in the Child.
