Become a Member or Friend of the Clayton Museum Dear Members and Friends, ... As we close out this long year at the Clayton Historical Society and Museum, I’d like to update you on our work to preserve and promote Clayton’s rich history. Everything we do is volunteer-driven, and donation funded, so it’s great to see folks still involved and supporting the museum even during a stay at home, wear a mask pandemic! Most recently, our Annual Meeting was held in November via Zoom. We were treated to a new film about blacksmithing in Clayton, followed by an authentic demonstration by Brian Connery, a true blacksmith and member of Clayton Historical Society. Dick Ellis, Bob Hoyer and Rory Richmond were honored by the City of Clayton for the many years of service they have given to the community. The meeting and blacksmithing videos are on the Clayton Museum YouTube channel: claytonhistory.org/youtube. Our Museum will reopen in the New Year with our newest exhibit: Buxworth in the High Peak, in Delightful Derbyshire County. This collection of photographs, stories, and facts honors Clayton’s twinned city and the birthplace of our town’s founder, Joel Clayton. While the Museum has been closed for most of the year, like any old building, it does take regular funding to keep it alive. We need your continued support (https://clayton-historical-society.square.site/membership-a) to preserve and promote our rich history. Since we were unable to do our annual Christmas Home Tour this year, we especially need your support to keep our historical Museum running and open to the public in 2021. Your gift of time or money will help sustain our local history. If you are a current member, please remember that all memberships are renewed annually (https://clayton-historical-society.square.site/membership-a) in January. Furthermore, if you’d like to support the Museum, you can also give a donation as a Friend. While we won’t be sad to have 2020 behind us, we hope that 2021 will see the pandemic nearing an end and a return to a time a bit more like the past. My regards, Ted Meriam, President [email protected] | 925-672-0240 Ends Sunday: Win a Model Train Set for the Holidays!
