The Circle Community Garden of El Cajon

OK everyone. The huge Farragut Circle Health & Safety Fair is this Saturday, May 3, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 500 Farragut Circle, El Cajon. Over 64 exhibitors, Sharp Grossmont will be giving free tests for blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, stroke screening. There will be free CPR compression training classes at 11 and 1. Kids will pot a plant and do crafts in the Circle Community Garden and there will be talks on growing herbs, organic gardening and more. Enjoy or take part in Zumba with Belle, yoga and tai chi. Flamenco dancers at 1:45. Meet Laura of Jeff & Jer at the KyXy booth from 10 to noon. I hope you all in this area will stop by for a very fun, informative day!

There are garden plots available starting at 4x8 raised beds for just $50 a year (including water) and larger. Tell your friends! Come join the garden and grow some good stuff!

Don't miss the free gardening sessions this Saturday, May 11th! 10 a.m. How to grow a salad in a pot (Lucy's Landscaping); 10:30 a.m. Growing herbs and vegetables and at 11 a.m. How to work your soil (Armstrong Nursery); 11:30 a.m. Getting rid of pesky insects organically and safely (S.D. Community Gardens and Master Gardeners Assoc.) Lots of good information. After that walk across the street to see and enjoy over 60 health & safety professionals at the Farragut Circle Health & Safety Fair. May 11th First Presbyterian Church will be holding a Health & Safety Fair across the street from the garden. Hours will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature emergency vehicles, solid safety information and many vendors with information on health from head to toe. At 10 a.m. Lucy, of Lucy's Landscaping, will be at the garden planting a salad in a bowl. Knowing Lucy the container will probably much more unique that a bowl. This will be a planting you won't want to miss and it will be then donated for a drawing to guests who attend. Be sure and mark it on your calendar...see you then:)

Look for the El Cajon Downtown Farmers’ Market starting Thursday, March 21, 3 p.m. 7 p.m. at the Prescott Promenade across from the Library.

Creative cooking! Join Chef Dominga Studer as she shows off her cooking chops, creating heart-healthy specialities. This event will be held Thursday, March 7th at 4pm in the El Cajon Library Community Room, 201 E. Douglas Avenue, El Cajon. On the Menu: Grapefruit-Kale Salad and Garden Lasagna.

Had a great opening at Circle Community Garden Saturday, Feb. 23! Thank you to all who came to help celebrate and to the community-minded businesses who donated time and effort!!
