The center piece of a bull nosed corner had to be mitered upward five degrees to follow the "A Frame" on the ceiling. This was also done 19 feet up in the air.

This crown was not only intercepted by other pieces, it was hewn around the two shutters so the doors could open and shut. From 8' to 14' up.

Craftsman style Wainscot can be created by covering a wall up to any height, with wood veneer and adding smooth vertical styles, and horrizontal rails, that are usually 1/2" to 11/16" thick X any width you desire, and intersecting them to form inverted boxes or shapes across the wall. Some will also use the rails to frame the perimeter, or they may add a crown moulding on top and a wider base rail on the bottom. It can be painted any color or stained. It can be on only one main wall or on several walls, bringing a formal elegance to certain areas of your office or home. One tricky part is making the intersecting seams dissapear, and we guarantee them not to split for seven years.

This is one of the more difficult corners we do, where an inside corner is close to a bull nosed corner. The miter is not straight. It actually jogs, so each level continues like a ray of light, until it meets the adjoining angled piece at the right spot, to match. For all those who say "a little caulking, sanding, and paint makes a craftsman what he ain't." We enjoy perfecting multiple corners away from the wall completely and then having them fit on the wall with perfection as one contiuous piece. ;o) We also guarantee them not to split for seven years.

There are so many styles and ideas when it comes to wainscot. You can search all day and probably not see the same exact pattern used, which makes it so interesting. We are proud of the fact that we are always being stretched to new possibilities and raising the bar on our meticulous results. I have been asked so many times If I do "how to" videos, for those interested in doing it themselves. If you are interested in finding out more on this subject, or have some questions about certain pictures on my web site, leave me a message and I will respond when I can.

How about a coffered ceiling in a Master Bedroom?

Craftsman style moulding looks best without seams or unnecesary fillers. Adding Cove for a crown gives your home a clean modern look. But adding a smaller crown in your hallway will lift the ceiling and cap the doors with elegance. Then we can add some seamless, craftsman Wainscot for a final touch.

I usually start by drawing a sketch, not to scale, and then it evolves from there....

Moulding should emphasize the architecture. Not distract you away from it.

Wainscot is never the same, and has so many styles to choose from. Making sure it stays tight,is painted well, and is spaced out evenly across each wall, is an art that takes lots of practice and technique.

She said two other contractors refused to put a coffered here. Not sure why. It made the transition sweet.

Every difficult situation gives us an opportunity for creative answers. Without challenges, there will never be growth. Normal for us is scary, uncharted territory. Looking back, I am always glad we tried to make it work, when others said it could not be done.

My! How time flies when you are having fun, working! haha

We decked out this fireplace area with moulding and accentuated the architecture. The customer asked, "how can you make a custom mantle to fit here?" It was tricky but I think over all it turned out amazing. The stair step shelves came alive and we cut a small piece of the base to make a frame around the boxed/ veneered cabinet area, with little room to spare.
