S L - Familia, Here we are again checking in. Heavy and significant times the ones we are living, and we really could not be in a better place. With out getting political, we will just say that the current happenings in the world and in our personal life, have reminded us why we are here in the first place and have grounded us to our mission on a deeper level. - This solstice has a very deep meaning for us, as we have been working with our shadow, mirroring those elements that are no longer needed and cherishing those that make us who we are. Once, some years ago, we had a Vedic astrology reading and the astrologer mentioned how David was ruled by Jupiter and I by Saturn. She said, I don’t know how you guys are making this work - you are total opposites. It took us a few years to understand that. We didn’t know that during that time, not only were we understanding it but we were also working through it, and coming to where we are now: a place of gratitude for one another. We understand how our differences create a beautiful balance. We are Opposite Complementaries like Saturn and Jupiter. We walk through this portal, morphing ourselves and our relationship, knowing it is the only way forward. May we move forward in love and balance. May we keep creating and expanding with foresight and grounded steps. May we have the courage to manifest our best lives knowing the accumulation of life master pieces will create a beautiful world! #DoubleDigging Part 1 -... You know, there is a machine that can do that digging for you must be the number one phase I hear when people find me digging. Of course I know there is a machine that can come and save me time and work but what I have with the earth is a personal relationship and when I decided to apply the double digging method, I needed to consult with her and digging by hand was the perfect setting to listen. As a displaced Mestiza, I rely heavily on my intuition, meditative conversations with the earth, decoding DNA stored memories and ingesting Mother Earth’s foods and medicines to help me remember how to properly tend and relate. - I am grateful for being able to develop this relationship with the Earth, to tend these gardens and for the immense opportunity to be in the red road doing my best to relearn what being a human is. Grateful for the faith that the great mystery has in me to trust me with being one of the caretakers here. Grateful to the ancestors of this land and my ancestors whom I strive to honor with every move I make and who I constantly consult and do my best to listen to. Grateful to the guardian mountains that opened up this valley as a food/medicine basket. Grateful to my team, that though it is small, it is mighty and I am eternally grateful for their trust and support. Grateful to my partner who is my pillar and who has walked and tended this earth by my side for many years. Grateful to my immediate family who always stands by me always and for the extended one who sees and supports me. TLAZOCAMATI - As life gifts us this opportunity to re-write this holiday, may we re-write leaving anger and resentment in their proper space: a catalyst to empower our actions and grant us the fire to keep going on this mission to restore balance. May se remember to be grateful to the Earth who sustains us, to the ancestors and descendants of those that were the care takers of these lands long before their was the concept of owning land, extracting from her in an imbalanced way. When I began my path as a farmer, there were very few of us females wanting and willing to do the work. I don’t really ever consider myself a farmer or TMG to be a farm. I like to garden and I like to refer to her as a garden because that takes away so many components that I don’t resonate with. I like to enjoy my relationship with the earth with out profit margin ties. She gives me what I need and in return I give her as much as I can. Through the years, I have noticed th...e increase in interest from women to get closer and learn her ways. The most important and beautiful thing I see when women tend the earth is that we listen. We pay attention to what she is telling us, what she wants and how she wants it. We are moving from land stewards to land tenders. How helpful it would be to relearn the art of agriculture according to initiatic rules! These rules were known and respected in the past by certain civilizations, and maybe they still are to a certain extent in some parts of the world. The people who conformed to these rules knew how to work with cosmic energies so that the seeds they placed in the soil would absorb these energies and provide vegetables and fruit that contained the maximum nutritional and health-giving prope...rties. One of our tasks as humans must be to water the seeds that have been sowed by others before us: friends, relatives, ancestors (some of which are us in past lives). This is a realization David and I have come to when we realize the path had been outlined for us. There have been clues left behind that show is out way and there is nothing else for us to do than to be grateful and keep doing the work. This land has passed on from various different hands. Many came to know it as La Mills Orgánica, but before that it was called Good Faith Farms and both GFF and La Milpa, had the vision of biodynamic farming as it’s ultimate practice goals. David and I came in to that vision and learned a few elements that we still practice. For us, biodynamics and it’s practice and philosophy align beautifully with the way we want to live our lives and tend to the earth. We believe the attunement of the earthly beings to the higher cosmic forces is what our assignment is. The bridging of heaven and earth is the task and because of its highly devotional and intentional methods, biodynamics provides us the foundation to make our work our worship. We had been in patient search for a teacher and soon after we received the stewardship of this land our friends @centehua.sage and @stackingfunctions facilitated the way for us to meet Joaquin, master biodynamic farmer. Since then he has been contributing in our SeedFest events and this one will not be the exception. He will be participating and honoring us with his knowledge on a deeper level. We are moving with the signs and the seasons. Early August brought us a sign to slow down, appreciate all we have and to take time to restructure our life and our commitment to it and to the land that has been entrusted to us. . . A car accident left our founder and earth tender @zylvetta.de.la.tierra with a broken arm. Though you will still see her sneak into the garden and get things done, we are committed to inner work -staying low to the ground for the next few months,... we will tend to her and ourselves. . . We will not be hosting our yearly Cosmic Garden Gathering this Fall Equinox but will open space for our friends to hold space and invite you all to visit us and the Gardens.
