Good things happening in Tehachapi Mountain Trails Association. Ttown flow trail is in the works. This singletrack will start off the top and drop into Mifflins. If you find Crazy Horse a bit too advanced for you, Ttown will be a more "mellow" option. When it has been completed there will be an opening notification and I will post a group ride to celebrate as well.

I had heard of Gustafson the Steel Grandpa from a children’s book years ago. Came across his full story here. Fun read.

Alright, this damn gate is locked down like Fort Knox now. Remember to ensure it closes and latches behind you. If a cow gets through this gate, it deserves to be free!

Sometimes low tech is the best solution! Here are a couple of safeguards that I put in place at the Cemetery gate at the Lehigh Trails to help ensure that the gate stays closed and so the gate won’t open to the outside of the trails. It now opens only to the inside. Be careful when using the gate and make sure to fully step over the new kick board at the bottom. A new latch will also be installed soon.

Hey guys, I need your help to ensure all of the gates at the Lehigh trails get closed each time you go through them. This includes the gate by the Cemetery. I just had an uncomfortable discussion with a pissed off rancher because his cows have gotten out of the cemetery gate a couple times this week. This cannot continue. We may have to look at removing the cemetery gate if this does continue. I know it may not be TMTA members or trail users that leave it open because most if... not all of us know that it is really important to close the gates, but nevertheless, this is an important issue and is vital if we want to continue use of the Lehigh Land. Please help us keep an eye on the gates whenever you are out there or even when driving by on the roads and freeway. We can’t afford to have any livestock get out and get hit on the roads or freeway. Thanks!

It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that this year’s TMTA BrewFondo will have to be cancelled due to the heightened health risk from COVID-19. We looked into alternative venue locations in Tehachapi to host the event, but none of them gave us approval. We’ll have to look forward to hosting the 5th Annual TMTA BrewFondo in 2021.

Here’s a couple of new signs that will be posted at the TMTA/Lehigh Trail entrances soon. These signs have been needed for a while!

TMTA will not be holding the regularly scheduled monthly meeting today due to COVID-19 social distancing and group gathering rules. For the time being, we’ll post information to the Facebook page on upcoming events and projects that are being worked on. Thanks and stay healthy!

Really good article that hits close to home with the land access agreement that we have with the Lehigh Hanson Cement Company for the Lehigh Trails area. We must do everything that we can to treat the land with respect as well as limit negative trail user conflicts or else we can very easily loose access to the area! https://www.outsideonline.com//mountain-biker-behavior-tra
