BEAUTIFUL BRI Meet beautiful @brianna.rice27 from Valencia high school! Bri was my very first client for the class of 2021 and her images are simply stunning! I met Bri years ago when I photographed her big sister Mikayla and now its her turn!... This is me giving Instagram a little bit of the side eye!! I feel like lately social media has become like that toxic boyfriend that you just can’t seem to get away from!! I was planning on posting but then something else happens and I just get caught up in the day-to-day stuff and so my poor Instagram has definitely had to be patient with me while we take a little break! But it’s all good I’m back just gonna be posting here slowly when I get a moment! PURPLE RAIN i’m sure you guys are sick and tired of me saying it but man oh man am I loving shooting in studio and creating unique one-of-a-kind images for my incredible team clients! I often get asked where I get my inspiration and it’s honestly all over the place. I was inspired to create this look when I found this purple dress at a thrift store and I knew I want to photograph it against a purple background. At first I didn’t get the dress, and then I couldn’t stop thi...nking about it so days later I went back hoping it would still be there and luckily it was! Two days after that I started looking for a Model to go with the overall look I was hoping for and Faith fit the bill perfectly! With all of the stress and craziness that has been going on lately, I just wanted to play and CREATE no pressure, no rules, no expectations, and just a chance to try new things. I absolutely love the results and of course instead of doing just one like we did several that day which will soon be shown! And obviously creativity goes way beyond the photo shoot itself. It goes into all the details including the make up, the hairstyling, and all the way down to the final editing of the picture. For this particular series I didn’t want it overly done for the editing and I just wanted to keep it clean and beautiful To really showcase Melanie’s work and beautiful Faith. Just for fun I did play around with some varying tones and things but ended up keeping it very clean. Picture one is the edited version, picture two is the straight out of camera capture, the other ones were just playing around. LEMONADE So these last few weeks have been a little bit of a new challenge with hair and make up services being changed yet again! So the new order is that you can have those services but only if they can be done outdoors so of course when it’s nearing 100 outside that’s a bit of a challenge! So since some shoots have been postponed and rescheduled I decided to turn some lemons into lemonade by being creative and playing in the studio! ... I asked Maya, one of my new 2021 senior model‘s, if she would want to come and play for the afternoon! And she of course completely nailed it! We did a few different looks but I love these that were inspired by a shoot I had seen with Zoe Kravitz that I became obsessed with! Thank you @mayaximani for such a fun afternoon and @nicolelorrainestyles for always killing the makeup game! . . . ICELAND Two years ago today, me and @cg3_photography were headed out for our first official shoot in Iceland! Between the two of us we brought along six amazing girls and even though the weather showed it was going to be perfect all week clearly mother nature had other plans! While driving to this first location the wind was super crazy, the windows were fogging up on the car, and there was a torrential downpour happening! These awesome girls didn’t seem to care and we...’re willing to do anything and everything to get some amazing images! Yes it was completely freezing and we were all completely soaked it, dry it off, warm up, and drink some hot chocolate! This trip brings back so many fun memories and fun stories that I have shared over and over! ITS GETTING HOT IN HERE Holy biscuits it’s been a hot one out here in SoCal!! I mean it might only be 100 which is better than 110 but yikes! I might as well head out on out to the Nevada desert and shoot there!! Speaking of Nevada desert how incredible is this location which I super super super love and have photographed many times but @lenadianne made it even more amazing when we visited last spring! LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION Yes, I totally know how blessed I am to be able to shoot in the coolest locations! Some of the best perks about living in California is that I can go one way and hit the beach, I can go another direction and hit the desert, and I can go another direction and hit mountains, plus I have the City of Angels as a favorite backdrop for many of my subjects too. But most the time I stay pretty close to where I am and like to find new locations an...d of course then there’s several locations that I go back to time and time again because I know how beautiful the light is at certain times of the day. Palm Springs and Las Vegas are pretty easy drives even though they are a couple of hours away but they have some of the coolest spots to shoot at!! Like the awesome Ace Hotel that let us shoot right in their front lobby which made the perfect set up with @gracie.johnson02 outfit! And then, of course, you get the occasional cranky (or maybe drink) person that asks me for money to shoot underneath the tree on the sidewalk! Ha ha ha! TRUE STORY! FASHION FRIDAY Over the last few years I have built quite an extensive collection of amazing clothes! It started out with simple little things that I could bring to a photo shoot just to add a little extra pop to The overall look of the outfit - then I started bringing hats and belts and then when I started shooting for agencies and having to style some of the models, I started looking for clothes. And a little by little, piece by piece, somehow turned into a giant ...stash of garments! Are used to hate shopping but now I get so excited to go into places especially thrift stores with unique one-of-a-kind pieces, and finding things that I can add to my collection. It has made the shoot so much more fun, and allowed my team and senior clients a chance to play dress up and wear things outside of their comfort zone! These last few months I’ve missed going shopping to find new things but I have a feeling I will be back to doing that very very very soon! CLOSING TIME I’m wrapping g up my very last few 2020 seniors that have been so kind and patient as we kept moving, juggling, postponing, and rescheduling over these last few months.
