#FIRST Thanks alot Dean Kamen
It is with great sadness that I pass along the news of the passing of a long time FIRST Lego League and FIRST Tech Challenge volunteer, John Pilvines. I first m...et John in 2005 in the beginning days of FLL and FTC. He is the founding father of Team Unlimited FTC 001 and Sharon Youth Robotics Assn. (SYRA) From his son, Patrick: Of all things, John was the consummate volunteer, giving his time so that others can get as much out of whatever was at hand. And I know nobody who gave more time to robotics and students. He loved work with each and every one of you and always spoke so highly of all the support and memories of working at each of your events. He loved working with the students and helping them on and off the field. At the current time our family has not made plans due to COVID to have any event or celebration of life, but if you would like I will keep you and the FIRST community in the loop. We are looking at setting up a grant of some kind in his memory to benefit FIRST teams; however, we are just starting to investigate this option.
