KATIE’S BACK! TELL A FRIEND!!! Ok... if y’all didn’t just read the picture and first line of the post to Eminem’s hit song WITHOUT ME... we can’t be friends... Hahaha jk Ok so incase you didn’t get my email about re-opening.... I just wanted to post this here for ya! ... I’m happy to announce that the CA regulations have moved Orange County into the Red tier (TIER 2) as of 9/08/2020, which means that personal services can be moved indoors again! I had a soft opening last week as to not overwhelm myself or my body, as I try to get back into the swing of things! And I felt it was a good time to modify my regular hours of operation. If the COVID-19 shutdowns have taught me anything it’s that I needed to slow down a bit and appreciate my downtime, and frankly, working 6 days a week for the last 2 years was proving to be overwhelming. My new hours of operation are as follows: MONDAY - CLOSED TUESDAY - 9:30-7:30 WEDNESDAY - 9:30-7:30 THURSDAY - 9:30-7:30 FRIDAY - 9:30-5pm SATURDAY - 9:30-2:30 SUNDAY - CLOSED And I will also be taking 1 Saturday a month off as well! if you’re in need of an appointment , the easiest way to book is online via my website www.seeyounexttues.com or via Instagram by clicking the BOOK button on my page @synt.wax.parlor. Just wanted to hop on social media since I’ve been MIA lately and wish all my clients a happy Labor Day weekend! These last few months have been hard on everyone, and it’s honestly been a constant wave of uncertainty and often times depression. I want to say that while I was ready to give up and close my business after the latest government mandated shut down in July.... All of those who have reached out to check on me or come to visit me have really kept my hope (and my bu...siness) alive. It’s a labor of love, waxing you all, and I’m happy to say that I truly love my job and I ain’t giving up yet!!! I’m looking forward to the date when I can LEGALLY re-open in my sola studio! As we’ve been forced to shut down for a second time due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I’ve been trying to wrap my head (and heart) around how to safely provide services to my clients. While I feel like my shop and most of my colleagues are some of the safest and sanitary places to get a personal services done. I cannot or will not start waxing OUTSIDE I know I joked about it... but it’s simply not a solution. As I’d rather be part of the solution and not part of the problem I a...m going to take the next couple weeks off and go on a much needed road trip with my mom! Try and re-evaluate the situation once the industry regulations have been relaxed. And figure out how to move my small business forward! I do hope this shut down doesn’t last another 3 months. As I don’t think my heart, body or mind could handle that. Luckily the first time this happened sola salons didn’t charge us rent... however, that may not be the case this time around, and im not certain I’d survive that financially. This is one of the hardest things small business owners have to deal with and it’s truly heartbreaking to have to go thru this all a second time around. So thank you for your patience with me as we all navigate thru it together! So for now, I’m gonna take some time to not think about the state of the world, or my business and I’m gonna go explore nature for the next week or so! RE-OPENING UPDATE JUNE 2, 2020 The hair removal Gods have spoken... So it is written... So it shall be!!! ... I just got word a few hours ago, that per the limited hair removal amendment to salons re-opening... I can re-open my wax studio AS LONG AS I DO NOT PERFORM ANY FACIAL WAXING!!!! I can still book/perform services from the neck down! So feel free to click that BOOK button on my Instagram homepage, or book directly thru my website for your neck down services! A few of the requirements are as follows: - facial coverings required (for both esthetician and client) - I will be scanning temperatures with a NO CONTACT infrared thermometer (anyone with a 100.4 temperature or higher will not be admitted into the studio, and I will also be monitoring my temperature every morning as well) - I will be providing hand sanitizer before entering the studio area - I have always sanitized between clients, but I have upgraded from Lysol wipes to hospital grade Cavicide! - i will offer no contact payment, credit cards are now no signature required. - clients will be asked to text me prior to entering sola to make sure there is nobody’s waiting until the hallways, so I can let you know when I’m done with sanitizing. - I will now start enforcing NO-SHOW or last minute cancellation fees. I will charge 25% of the service cost for NO-SHOW or cancellations with less then 24 hours notice. Please understand, I will be extremely busy Over the next few weeks and months, trying to accommodate all my clients so it is crucial to not miss your appointment. - There will not be any additional people allowed in studio or hallway, so if you have a child, please find childcare prior to coming to your appt. - If you are coming with friends or in a group, please wait in the car or outside the sola salon, and come the studio one at a time! While I was trying to avoid raising my prices, in order to accommodate all the increased pricing of personal PPE and sanitizing wipes & equipment, I have decided to increase the cost of bikini, extended bikini and Brazilian services by $3 so Bikinis will now be $38, Extended Bikini $48 and Brazilians $58. RE-OPENING UPDATE For all the clients who have been reaching out to me about the news yesterday that salons can begin to re-open. As of right now, that order applies to HAIR AND BARBERS ONLY! All other services such as skincare, waxing and nails does not apply! I’ve heard a rumor going around that there was an amendment to the order yesterday stating that LIMITED HAIR REMOVAL (from the neck down) will be allowed to resume, but I haven’t heard back from the powers that be... as to when this can take place! PLEASE bear with me as I try to navigate thru this craziness to find the proper and legal guidance as to how I can LEGALLY & SAFELY reopen my little wax shop! While I have ALWAYS practiced the highest level of safety and sanitation in my shop... My biggest priority is the health and safety of my clients as well as myself so Spent some time last week getting Barbicide certified! Some of the additional precautions I’ll be taking once I’m allowed to be open are as follows: - I will be requiring both clients and myself to wear facial coverings - I will be taking client temperatures with a no-touch infrared thermometer before entering... the shop - a HEPA air filtration system will be running that filters out 99.9% of bacteria and viruses out of the air. - I have upgraded my disinfectant between clients from Lysol wipes to hospital grade Cavicide - I will ask that once you get to the salon you wait in your car and text me, to let you know I am finished with my previous client and have disinfected, this will eliminate anyone overlap and nobody waiting in the hallway! HAIRY... uhhh I mean HAPPY BELATED MOTHERS DAY!!! But let’s face it... you’re all Hairy by now since I haven’t been able to work for 2 months! Hahaha Trust me.. Nobody misses y’all more then me! Sorry I missed a Mother’s Day post.. but I’ve been dealing with a lot of personal and home shenanigans!!! this week it seems as though a lot of clients have been hitting me up to see if I’ll be back to work, and sad to say that we have not yet been given the go ahead to re-open! We’re all in this together and this pandemic has truly made me recognize how truly blessed I am to have such an amazing community of women and men who support, love and truly care about me and my business! I do hope that everyone and your families are staying healthy and safe during this global pandemic. Unfortunately, it looks like this will last atleast another month as the government has requested that all non-essential businesses remain closed until 4/30/2020 with possible extension if needed! Instead of texting or calling every client in April to reschedule, I am going to go ahead and cancel all appointments. All jokes aside... I know we are ALL effected by this global crisis... some more then others. Please keep in mind that the sooner we’re able to #flattenthecurve the sooner we’ll all be able to go back to work and our daily schedules. For now, I am trying to keep my sanity and curb the anxiety by organizing my house, cuddle with my pup, Olive and stay fit riding my @onepeloton! Which I am so incredibly grateful to have all those things... when I know most people don’t! To al...l those client who have reached out asking about gift cards for future services... I truly appreciate it!!! As of right now, it’s unnecessary and I encourage you to support other local small businesses! If that changes... and I blow thru my rainy day funds... I will let you know!
