Sebastian helps run @communitythroughhope, a nutrition distribution center and outreach hub for our unsheltered neighbors here in the South Bay. He will be offering his expertise to help us enhance our digital presence, in the hopes of connecting with our Sangha and sharing the Dharma in innovative ways. Thank you to Eric Jeong Gak Wilkins for expounding yesterday on the teachings of the 30th ancestor, Jianzhi Sengcan. He lived during the 6th century A.D. and entered practice late, finding his teacher Dazu Huike in his forties. As legend has it, Sengcan's time practicing with Huike cured his leprosy and after receiving transmission, he was told to hide in the mountains while persecution against Buddhists was rampant in China. Sengcan is credited with writing the famous Chan ...Buddhist verses, "Hsin Hsin Ming." He passed on the Buddhadharma to his successor Daoxin and eventually returned to his original home to share the Dharma with a large and thriving community.
