For many, the pressure to work and attend school remotely during the coronavirus pandemic has amplified Silicon Valley’s digital divide. But a new plan announced Monday by Mayor Sam Liccardo and AT&T will bring 11,000 wireless internet hotspots and 4G LTE data plans to K-12 students and low-income households lacking internet connection.

Safety and health is of the utmost importance to us. Throughout the summer, we have worked very hard to transform the district to become COVID-19 ready. We continue to follow all Santa Clara County Health Department recommendations and will reopen SVAE on September 1 and SVCTE on August 10 utilizing Distance Learning until conditions allow us to shift to the Hybrid Model. The Santa Clara County Office of Education in partnership with the Santa Clara County Public Health Department have released a joint statement regarding the Governor’s July 17, 2020 announcement on new guidance for school reopening. Free COVID-19 testing is available for educator staff from any school within Santa Clara County at the Santa Clara County Office of Education on Tuesday, July 21st and Wednesday, July 22nd from 10a.m. 3p.m. Protocols and precautions will be in place to minimize any risk to staff members and community.
