When I was looking at residency programs, one of the things I looked at was the burn center here because it’s an area I’m interested in. If you’re interested in... trauma, this is the place to be because we see a lot of it. We have great experience in burns, vascular, endocrine and broad based experiences. Our grads also match really well into the fellowship programs of their choice, said Angela Nieh, MD, fourth-year Surgery resident. Our beloved Denise has officially retired. Denise has been an integral part of the Department of Surgery and UCSF affiliates for over 15 years. Her contributions will always be valued and remembered. Her hard work, commitment and dedication are worthy of admiration. Denise served on the administrative committee that established Terry’s House from construction to full operation. In her career with UCSF Denise has provided high level support to the Chief of Trauma and Surgery.... She also served as the original medical student clerkship coordinator and academic affairs and recruitment administrator. Denise has been a mentor, advisor, and friend to all of our fellows, residents and faculty. She was an original member of the UCSF Social Committee which planned several events for all staff participation. Denise is a problem solver, a dependable team leader who motivates others and always brings the best work to fruition. To the administrative staff, Denise is an honorary unicorn. A mythical and beautiful creature that just shows up and sprinkles her magic. To all, Denise is a sounding board and voice of reason. Denise will be greatly missed. Filling her shoes will be an impossible task. Denise - we wish you all the best!
