This year instead of the Thanksgiving Story I am choosing to share Indigenous people’s stories and art. To talk about the fact that these people are not in history alone. I will probably not do this correctly this year. I have a lot to learn as a person and a teacher still about decolonizing Thanksgiving and brining that into the school, but this is the step I feel I can do. I can read! It’s how much of our learn and lessons start at the school. If anyone has a book they th...ink I could add to my growing library I would love recommendations. The best part about sharing stories is that we can share them anytime of the year, not only in November. So that’s my first step this year as a person, a teacher, a human and hopefully a better ally (one step at a time) is to read and share stories. This week has been full of geography lessons, election education and fine-motor strength! This week we practiced putting in our own socks and shoes, properly blowing our noses, washing our hands, zippering, buttoning and in general care of self! Started our week talking about Peace and what that means. Then we collected items from nature to use in two fun art projects.
