Afterschool programs need your help! We are facing a cut of up to $100 Million dollars, which will greatly affect our funding and our communities. Please show your support!

Tax-Aid has operated out of the SNBC office for years during tax season, providing a trusted and necessary support for our community. Although in person operations are halted, they are currently offering virtual tax services! The tax filing deadline for the IRS and the State of California has been extended until July 15, 2020. The extension is automatic so you will not need to fill out a form. Email them at [email protected] or call at 415-229-9240.

Open Door Legal is pioneering universal access to legal help and is interested in expanding to the Sunset. They practice in over 35 areas of law, including family law, housing, immigration, employment, and consumer. On Wednesday 4/29 at 5pm, Assemblymember Phil Ting and Supervisor Mar are hosting a joint town hall to discuss the COVID-19 response from both a local and statewide perspective. Come to learn about how efforts and responses are being coordinated and how San Francisco continues to lead on issues for the state. With the reduction in MUNI services, SFMTA is announcing the Essential Trip Card (ETC) program to help seniors 65 and older and people with disabilities take and pay for essential trips in taxis during this crisis. Eligible participants will pay 20% of the cost of a regular cab ride fare for essential trips. The program uses taxis to take people to the grocery store, pharmacy or another necessary medical trip during the shelter-in-place period. Click the link below or call 311 to apply!

Starting Saturday, April 25, SFMTA will be modifying Muni’s Core Service by adding some modified routes and increasing the frequency of buses on others. Affected Sunset MUNI routes include the 28, L and N lines. Please visit the www.SFMTA.com website for a full list of restored or modified services.

Join the fourth District 4 virtual town hall to learn about the challenges facing families and youth and what actions the city and schools are taking to help us as a community to weather this crisis. Matt Pemberton from Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center will join district supervisor Gordon Mar, Maria Su from the Department of Children Youth and Their Families, and Josephine Zhao, parent leader and a SFUSD representative for this important discussion.

SNBC stands in solidarity with Housing Rights Committee of San Francisco and the West Side Tenants Association.
