Exciting news we are starting a great project with our partners at at ASPCA in the city of Elmonte to manage and monitor feral cat colonies through TNRM. This is the reason why we do TNR. It’s not JUST ABOUT FIXING!!! It’s also about fixing cats that come in with injuries and illnesses like this guy. He will likely have the eye removed and we where told that because of the build up of pressure in head he has lost his balance so he walks around with a tilted head. Once the eye is removed he will have a much better chance in the streets because he will not have an infected injured eye and will be able to move around better. The animal community and rescue community is such an amazing community to belong to. We all support each other because we know that everyone is doing their part and trying to do as much good as possible. We had the opportunity to help a fellow Rescue with a couple bags of cat food as they were picking up a few donations from the ASPCA. We look forward to working with them on some future projects as the opportunities present them selves we are happy to support the great work that k9 connection is doing in any way possible.

We don’t leave cats in the street if we can help them. This guy has terrible terrible mange so we picked him up and are holding him until he recovers or looks better. He will go back out into the streets healthy, fixed, and feeling better than he did when he came in. It is important to get cats with mange treated if they are in the colony because mange can be contagious. If you don’t take care of one, soon you will have many cats with mange and secondary infections due to the... mange. As we always say part of TNR is having compassion for cats that would otherwise be overlooked. Many people passed this cat up and did nothing about it so we had to step in and make sure we took care of a living soul and a cat that needed someone to care about him. It’s never ending kitten season!!!! Did you know that calico cats and tortoiseshell cats are Mostly female. It is always a safe bet if you are looking to trap a cat and have the most significant impact, trap a tortoiseshell or calico. Although we want to trap all unfixed cats trapping a calico or tortoiseshell means that you more than likely are preventing a female from getting pregnant or stopping one that has become pregnant. This is a video where a mom and three kittens we’re being drop trap in a person‘s backyard. This shows some of the other tools that we have to be more efficient when there are multiple cats needing to be trapped. The drop trap is such a helpful tool because it allows us to trap multiple cats at the same time therefore eliminating the chance that a cat will be scared off after one has been caught in a trap. It was such an amazing experience to participate in the grand opening of the Fletcher Park dog Park. We were able to connect with so many people and educate them about what we do and importance of TNR. We also got to connect with a lot of the city officials and people in the city of Almonte putting in the work to improve the city. We look forward to doing more of these Covid safe events and spreading the word about the importance of TNR. We have another event that we are working on with the city of El Monte this coming month. Despite being closed for one whole week due to poor air quality we where able to make a big impact in our community. We fixed 500 cats between our ASPCA mobile clinic and Fixnation clinic. We transported 220 cats to and from surgery and helped a couple of groups transport a total of at least 40 cats on an out of state transport we helped 400 cats that where being cared for by independent rescuers or small rescues get the basic wellness services such as vaccines, microchips, ...flea treatment, deworming and even saved a few critical kitties that might have died if they didn’t have access to some of our emergency care like fluids and breathing treatments. We have been at our current location for a year this month and are very proud to have accomplished so much despite being in a pandemic for 6 of the 12 months we have been serving this community. We look forward to making the current numbers of cats helped look small in this coming year but we can’t do it with out your support. Although we would like to do more, it won’t happen without money!!!!! We have a ton of HUGE. Projects we would like to accomplish next year and are starting to work on getting the funding for them now. Please consider making a donation to our work. Tip Thursday cat!!!! This guy came in super ridden with terrible skin conditions and ear mites. He unfortunately has had damage to his ear and will not recover from that but he, as you can see, has recovered from the skin conditions very well and has actually turned in to the most loving and sweetest community cat. This is part of TNR, it is not only fixing the community cats but also leaving them in a better situation than they where found by providing basic health services like vaccines and flea control. Remember Sammy the river cat!!!! After 4 days of trying to trap her and get her out of drainage canal. She had found a furever home!!!!! She actually has been at her furever home since she went in to foster but didn’t know it yet!!!! @tobytaylorxx was gracious enough to foster this kitty when she was rescued and felt so comfortable with her and connected with her so much that there is no need to took for a better home. This is it. We are so happy that she is part of this little family and thank @tobytaylorxx for adding her to her fur family. One of our only obstacles is getting enough spay/neuter appointments to help all the cats we need to TNR!!! Today we will be fixing 61 cats!!! We are at close to 200 cats for the week and are booked solid for the next 3 weeks!!!! We need more spay/neuter resources in the LA area for TNR!!!! We at stray paws are working on a few ways make more resources available. This takes funding and as a nonprofit funded bu donations we need funds to get our projects done. Due to covid sp...ot of the funds normally available for rescues have focused their efforts on much needed covid relief, this means nothing to the ever expanding cat population!!! They will continue the cycle of over population regardless of our ability to raise funds for more Spay/Neuter. We would love to secure more resources to progress the work we do.
