You’d be surprised by how much of our bathroom clutter is actually items that need to be recycled! The main culprit is almost empty shampoo and soap bottles, but also bottles of lotion, toilet paper rolls, tissue boxes and supplement bottles. Placing a small trash bin under the sink and labeling it with a sign will help move those things along so they don’t become clutter. Remember to remove and toss the lids or pumps from bottles, as those can’t be recycled. Give it a quick rinse and pop it in the recycling bin! We have a small one under ours and I’m always amazed by how quickly it fills up. When the next step is made simple and immediate, it can help the organizing process (kind of like placing a laundry basket in the exact spot by the shower where dirty clothes land). Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope you are having a great day.

Tip time! Pro organizers are great at helping clients rethink the possibilities in their homes and with their furniture. When you see your space every day, it’s easy to lose your objectivity around them and it’s harder to be creative about solutions. I love this idea of putting stand up files in a closet at eye height. They are visible, easy to reach and centrally located. So good! This image is from @kacypaide Here are some other examples of areas that can be adapted in new... ways you may not have thought of before! For example: A closet can become a tiny office An antique chest can become a filing cabinet Two (identical) low shelves can become a desk when you place a board across the top An IKEA Kallax bookshelf on its side can become a window seat Many furniture items can be used to divide space in a temporary way Entire rooms can be repurposed for other things! Realize you don’t do crafting anymore but you’re working out every day? Update that rooms purpose! A hallway nook can become a secondary office for folks who are working from home and need space An old armoire can be turned into a closet for just about anything - cleaning supplies, crafts, you name it! Do you have any ideas to add?? I’d love to hear about them! I think we’ve all had to get a lot more creative with our homes this past year, and the fun is not over yet!

Organizing tip! Slat walls in the garage are a great way to keep things off the floor and stored together. Garages be functional and aesthetically pleasing with the right products! These vertical slat walls are easily installed by any company that sets up garage shelving systems. I loved organizing this garage! The client wanted to store the hanging canvas in the space, and it fit perfectly on the wall. It looks like it was meant to be and makes the clients smile each and every day. How many of us can say that something in our garage brings us joy each time we see it? I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Who is ready to organize their garage!?

One of the and most underestimated ways to make your closet 100% better is to improve the lighting! It helps you keep your closet organized and let’s you see what you own. This helps lower stress and makes it much easier to get dressed in the morning. Any time I find myself in a new client’s closet and it’s dark, I make sure we fix the broken lightbulb or help get some more light in there so we can work! I love the look of these lighted hanging rods from @laclosetdesign! Makes it feel like shopping inside your own closet.
