The Stone Lake Boo-Thru is coming! On Friday Oct 30th, the PTO is sponsoring a drive through trick-or-treat event. A track 4:30-5:00 B Track 5:00-5:30 C Track 5:30-6:00... D track 6:00-6:30. Drive through the school parking lot during your track time, and we will have tables with decorations, pumpkins to vote on and candy/toys/glow sticks to hand out. Masks are required driving through, and costumes are encouraged. We will hand out candy with tongs or spoons, but please have a bag or bowl for us to drop it in when you drive by. We are combining this with a food drive so please bring canned food to help stock the local food bank if you are able. This event is free to all Stone Lake Families.

Bring an additional bag to make transport easier. 4. Please make sure to have a mask and practice social distancing at all times. We also ask that only one family member come to the school. 5. If your child needs a Chromebook, they will be available at the front office for checkout. Having your child’s ID number ready will make the process quicker. 6. Stone Lake staff will be around to assist with the distribution process. We’ll see you today!

Stone Lake families, I apologize for the 100 person limit on tonight’s Zoom. I was under the impression that we had a 500 person limit. The Zoom was recorded, and I will share when that Zoom is uploaded and where. ... I will also send out an invite to do another Zoom tomorrow evening at 6:00. Again, I apologize for the mistake on my part.

As our district starts the school year with distance learning. Governor Newsom shared this afternoon some expectations of districts when it comes to DL: School districts must provide: -Devices so that every child can participate in distance learning. -Daily live interaction.... -Challenging and equivalent to in-person instruction. -Targeted supports for English learners and special education As usual, this Edsource article gives some great information for parents to read as well. https://edsource.org//parents-must-have-a-say-in-di/636182
Please check your emails for a message about the 20-21 school year. In short, here is the abbreviated message that was sent out: July 15, 2020 The Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD), after working closely with the Sacramento County Office of Education, area school district Superintendents, Sacramento County Health Director, Dr. Peter Beilenson, Public Health Officer, Dr. Olivia Kasirye, received data from Drs. Beilenson and Kasirye on increases in community spread of... the coronavirus combined with the inability of the current testing system to support sufficient timely returns of test results if schools were to reopen. In light of these circumstances, District Superintendents in the 13 districts and the County Superintendent, with the support of Drs. Beilenson and Kasirye, have made the determination that schools should open in August/September with a Distance Learning model. Based on our collaboration with and updated information from public health officials, and with ongoing support and feedback from our Board of Education and labor partners, we will start our school year in August with our improved Full Distance Learning model, affirmed Christopher R. Hoffman, Superintendent of Schools. http://blogs.egusd.net//elk-grove-unified-to-start-20-221/
The main question that I have been receiving from parents is about safety protocols for our schools. While nothing has been finalized, I was a part of the Health and Safety Tactical Team, and what protocols we developed were shared at the 2:40.30 mark of the Board meeting linked below. These guidelines will most likely be the basis of what we do in our schools. https://youtu.be/HB8pZEOQXUE
Here is information for parents to be able to go into ParetVue:
Dear Stone Lake Families, Please check your email for a very important letter in regards to the Stone Lake Parent Selection Letter which details the plans for the 20-21 school year. The letter is also included below:
Stone Lake Parents, this is how our community has responded thus far to the EGUSD Parent Survey. 72% Response Rate 15% prefer distance learning for the full school year regardless of health conditions.... 29% prefer a full return to traditional education but would participate in distance learning until all SCDH COVID health guidelines have been lifted. 52% prefer a full return to traditional education but would participate in a combination of distance learning and small group, in-person instruction if public health conditions warranted it. 4% prefer a full return to traditional education regardless of SCDH COVID health guidelines. If this is not available, I will find an alternative outside the Elk Grove Unified School District.
IXL is one of the additional learning tools that we use at school, and that you use at home to support your child in learning. This is a great guide for parents to use over the summer.
