Measure J just passed! Thanks to everyone who used their voice, time, and energy to support this initiative for change. #Repost @reimagine_la Change rarely happens quickly, even when circumstances demand it. Change takes compromise. ... Change takes coalition building. Change takes collective action. It means tough conversations, legs tired from marching, and a hell of lot of phone banking. But most importantlyand most significantlyit takes belief. The belief that we can move forward, and fix what is broken. Measure J passed, because we, as a community, and as a county, believed that we could change our values where it mattered most. Our institutions. Together, we have set an example that the rest of the country will follow when it comes to reimagining public safety. To fund mental health care as a fundamental part of public policy, while divesting from a system of mass incarceration rooted in racism and prejudice. To increase jobs and housing in communities that have been systematically discriminated against for generations. We have been saying it from the beginningthis is history, and you are not just a witness to it. You helped make it This year, we have seen a lot that has made us lose faith in our laws and our leaders. We have seen Black people murdered without justice, a homelessness crisis get worse, and our most vulnerable get poorer and sicker during the pandemic. Measure J will not mean these problems will go away. When it comes to truly achieving justice, equity, and opportunity for all, we are at the starting line not the checkered flag. We must stay committed, together, and vigilant. But while our work begins again tomorrow, let’s take the time to celebrate today. We did it Los Angeles. See more

We would like to give a gratitude shout out to our community partner SophiaGrace Foundation. This is Cindy Yao, the treasurer and the President's daughter, Celene. In a recent visit to our Food Pantry, they realized that SJC not only services our neighbors in need but pets too. They simply asked, What do you need? SophiaGrace Foundation has now pledged to donate weekly to our Food Pantry based on the greatest need. We are grateful!... If you would like to get involved with us this holiday season, please visit stjosephctr.org #gratitude
Terry Blevins is a former sheriff and a member of the Law Enforcement Action Partnership. He supports Measure J because he knows that keeping communities safe starts with investing in mental health care, social services, and other programs have proven to address the root causes of crime. Terrythank you for using your voice for this historic opportunity.... Vote #YesonJ with @thesestreetsmag https://buff.ly/3oP1cXJ
A lot has changed this year, but it doesn’t have to be your voice. Will you make your vote count this election? VOTE in honor of someone you love. VOTE in honor of someone who loves you. VOTE in honor of someone you have lost, someone you know would have stood in line at the polls, but can’t because they are no longer with us.... VOTE in honor of all the voices that have less power. Or, maybe vote for the future children whose voices have yet to be heardthe future voices who will inherit this home. Lady Gaga See more
