Unlike Memorial Day which is a time to remember those who gave their lives for our country, Veterans Day honors all of those who have served our country in times of war and in times of peace. Although it is a holiday to honor all veterans, dead or alive, it is particularly focused on thanking living veterans for their sacrifices in defense of our country. The following prayer was written by Deacon Steve Budnik who is the Respect & Family Life Coordinator for the Diocese of Stockton and who also served the United States Navy as a Lieutenant. He went through the Naval ROTC Illinois Institute of Technology and spent four years on active duty on the USS Blue Ridge LCC-19 and 6 years in the reserves.
