Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Christ is with us! Please remember that Sunday liturgy on 8 November will begin later: it is Holy Angels' feast and their bishop will be visiting.... We do not expect to enter the church until noon. We will then set up and begin as soon as possible. Also, Fr James Bankston informed me that a member of Holy Angels has tested positive for COVID. May the Lord grant him health and peace. As of yet, no other members of their congregation have tested positive. Given our minimal contact with Holy Angels parishioners we see no direct impact to the members of St Jacob. Be that as it may, please remember to social distance, wash your hands frequently, etc. Naturally, you're in my constant prayers for your health and safety. Many thanks for your support! In Christ Fr Shaun

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ Christ is with us! I hope you and your loved ones are well and safe.... Please remember: we will not get into the church until noon because of the Holy Angels feast and the visit by their eparchial bishop, celebration of a pontifical liturgy, etc. We will enter the church about noon, set up and begin liturgy ASAP. We thank you for your patience. We wish Holy Angels many blessings on their feast and continued thanks for their hospitality! I'm sure at least some of you are ready to pull your hair out with all this election hullabaloo. Please, though, don't despair or become impatient or angry: that's exactly what the Evil One wants from us. Rather, we continue to pray for our civil authorities and ask the Holy Spirit's guidance, light, wisdom, and understanding during these times. Be safe! If there's anything you need please let me know. Many thanks and blessings for your support! In Christ, Fr Shaun

When Do We Fall Back In 2020? The first Sunday in November is when Daylight Saving Time ends in most areas of the U.S., so in 2020 we’ll fall back one hour and return to Standard Time on Sunday, November 1, 2020, at 2 a.m. Be sure to set your clocks back one hour before bed on Halloween night!

The Bishop’s Appeal 2020 Building A Better Life On A Solid Foundation Through Faith & Family The Bishop’s Appeal: In the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus in today’s Gospel, Our Lord warns us that the time to act with mercy and generosity is NOWbefore it is too late. Let us open our hearts and hands to the needs of our Melkite brothers and sisters. If you have not already done so, respond now with generosity to Christ’s call by giving a gift today to the Bishop’s Appeal. Give joyfully from the heart for God loves a cheerful giver. Thank you for your generosity.

Today is the feast-day of the holy Apostle and Hieromartyr St James the Lesser, Brother of the Lord and first Bishop of Jerusalem. He composed the first litur...gy, which was later abbreviated somewhat by St. Basil the Great and still more by St. John Chrysostom. At 96 years of age, he suffered martyrdom when he was cast down from the pinnacle of the Temple in A.D. 61. See more

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ, Christ is with us! Fr James Bankston has informed us that on Sunday, 8 November, their eparchial bishop will be visiting Holy Angels on their patronal feast. Our Divine Liturgy will not begin until noon on that day. We will not enter the church until 11:30 am to give the Holy Angels community ample time to celebrate with their bishop and then prepare the church for us. Many blessings on Holy Angels on their feast. Many thanks and blessings for your support!
