I’m Ashley, owner and co-founder of RMP. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in Clinical Art Therapy. I am in the process of obtaining my ...Somatic Experiencing Certification and I especially love focusing on Trauma. I believe that everyone, no matter color, race, gender, background, beliefs, religion, experiences, upbringing, or anything else deserves a fighting chance. I wholeheartedly believe in that quote that says something along the lines of that if we teach children properly from the start/at a young age then we spend less time fixing broken adults. By this I mean, fostering learning from a young age, empowering, and encouraging self reflection and growth. I believe that often times we don’t give kids enough credit and as adults living in the fast paced society that we do we tend to cut them off and subsequently teach them that whatever they were going to say wasn’t important even if that is not necessarily the intention. I believe that we were given two ears to listen and only one mouth to respond. In short, I hope this serves as a friendly reminder and PSA to slow down. Live life. Appreciate the little things. Take time for yourself. Honor your growth. Share with loved ones. Connect. Feel. Hug. Appreciate. Relax. Take a moment each day to reflect. Take care of YOU. Journal. Make art!!!! And especially show gratitude. Remember that not every day will be a walk in the park but you have survived 100% of your days so far. So keep up the strong work. #Repost @emmyisastar Happy World CP Day! Today is about ensuring that children and adults with cerebral palsy have the same rights, access and opportunities as everyone else in our society. ... There are 17 million people across the world living with CP. It is the most common physical disability in childhood. It’s a permanent disability that affects movement and can range from very mild (ie: weakness in one hand), to almost complete lack of voluntary movement. It’s estimated that around 350 million people are closely connected to a child or adult with CP. I personally had never known anyone with CP until Emerson was born. She’s taught me all the most important things to know in life. Most importantly, I’ve learned that a disability is not the end of the world. Despite her physical challenges, she’s more alike other kids her age than not. She’s silly, funny, smart, sassy, capable and living her best life everyday. She deals with more challenges than the average kid, but she does so with grace, humor, strength, courage, persistence and the biggest, brightest, most magical smile. And although it may look a little different, she is capable of doing anything and everything she wants to do whether it’s dancing, surfing, talking, riding horses, swimming or going to college! Nothing can stop her if she’s just given the opportunity! I’ve also learned the best thing you can do when you meet someone with CP, is just say hi. Do you know someone with CP?
