Switching from in-person to on-camera is not an easy task for those who aren't naturally comfortable on the screen, but we kept at it and we slowly worked up the courage to do it LIVE! It is better late than never as we continue to bring our best to enrich young minds with STEAM content. Our last online summer camp is next week. Join us for a week of food science camp "What's on your plate?" with accompanying story "From Chewing to Pooing" written by local moms, Lauren Gehringer and Nathalie Gehringer. Do you need a parental break? Sign your kiddos up for camp next week. For 2 h each day our teacher will keep them engage. Materials to be coordinated for last minute registrations. www.sf-STEMful.com/camps

After weeks of following up on safety guidances, working with the team to ensure their safety, comfort and health, hiring, training and implementing new procedures we re-opened our doors yesterday, 6/22 to two small groups of campers! . . Our hearts are full to see the kids learning and engaging in STEM hands-on projects. The kids will be with us for 3 weeks allowing us a great opportunity to develop good relationships with them. We have a responsibility to enrich their yo...ung minds with facts about our world, and to provide them with some normalcy so they can be their true selves - being kids. . . Want to learn about our program? Check out our website: linktr.ee/stemful.sf. On-line camps will roll out tomorrow. See more

This is my beautiful friend Kris. I met her about 11 years ago through a mutual friend. This is a picture of the two of us when she first opened her spa @spaviapleasanthill. It is a such an inviting space where I look forward to getting pampered. . . We both started a new business about a year apart. I started mine in SF, and she started hers in Pleasant Hill. We managed to see each other a couple of times since then. With the demands of learning to run and manage a new bus...iness we didn’t have enough time to see each other. If we live close, I am sure we would see each other more often. We both understood the sacrifices we have to make in our personal life to have a successful business. Running a business takes a big toll in our lives, but our friendship remains strong and when we talked on the phone it was always wonderful and full of laughs. . . Kris’s spa is still closed, but she has a whole line of skin care products that is available for purchase. Check out her website on her bio @spaviapleasanthill, save this post or share to your friends who are in her neighborhood. . . I miss and love her. I look forward to visiting her and her wonderful husband (hopefully soon). Together my family and I stand against racism by donating, signing petitions, talking to our friends, educating ourselves, protesting and calling our city and state representatives to work towards significant changes to police policies. We are at a critical juncture in our nation’s history. If we don’t speak up and stand up now, then when? See more

I purchased delicious cookies from @anthonyscookies before I ever met Anthony. For years, I would stop by when I was on Valencia Street. My optometrist and favorite Thai Spa Massage studio are his business neighbors, and an easy walk from STEMful and my home. . . I met Anthony last year. He learned about our STEAM Toddler class from a mutual customer of ours. He came by one day to check out our education studio, and played in the PlaySpace with his little girl. He signed up ...to take the class every week with her. He was the only consistent dad that came with his daughter for the class. The class was filled with moms or female-caregivers and their toddler, but he fit right into the group. It was beautiful to witness. He easily made friends with all the women in the class, and the classroom became a loving community that I looked forward to every week. . . During class and even after class, he would always ask me early child development questions. I always love talking to him and sharing what I know. He is a positive, loving, caring husband, father and son. I am very happy to get to know the man who created Anthony’s Cookies. . . He has two locations: San Francisco and Berkeley. Support him and other Black own businesses in the Bay Area, and all over the country. See more

My heart and mind have been heavy all week with news upon news about racial injustice that has taken a center stage AGAIN and AGAIN in the backdrop of a pandemic. . . My platform is on educating children about science and sharing resources to parents. I know I have to be more active in speaking up about racial disparity in our country, continue to be a good role model to my own kids and to those I teach by doing more on my part. To continue to educate myself, so I can better... educate our next generation that ALL lives should be equal regardless of the skin color. . . I love what @themompsychologist shared on her platform yesterday. Noah Travis also opened up my eyes and ears even more. . . Who have you found to inspire you to speak up and do more for racial injustice? Please share. I love to continue learning and be Inspire by those who are taken actions to speak up for our country, but specifically for our Black community who is hurting and need to our voice, our support for them. My mask protects you. Your mask protects me. . . Face coverings are a step to help San Francisco reopen safely. I usually try to keep my opinions to my family and close friends , but I feel this is important for ALL of our safety and health. Summer is approaching and many of us are still very unsure of our plans, particularly around camps. I can certainly understand the feeling and as an education studio this uncertainty makes our decision much harder. Camp planning usually takes place in September, and shapes up by January for registration. Now we are in the middle of making decisions about how to move forward with this summer camp programs: on-line or in-person with new safety and cleaning procedures? What are ...your thoughts on summer camps? . . In the meantime, it was much easier for me to come up with a few new science kits perfect for summer fun! Glow in the Dark Sensory Kit, Paleontology Kit, and another Chemistry Kit: Atoms and Molecules. Dates for pre-purchase will be announced next week. We also resupplied our current kits: Chemistry: Crystals and Colors, Flower Chromatography, and Earth Playdough. Grab one of these kits while supplies last! linktr.ee/stemful.sf See more

Yesterday I was stuck in traffic, while I was driving around town delivering our Chemistry Kits. I was cranky and felt overwhelmed because some of the materials didn’t come in on time; making it more stressful to deliver the kits. But instead of focusing on the negatives, I started reflecting on why I am doing this in the first place. Many moms purchased our kits to support me and STEMful to stay in business. What I am bringing in revenue is paying my team and refunding pare...nts who found themselves with no jobs. They are only trying to provide their kids with the basics. These are parents, whose livelihood pre-pandemic does not qualify for them for government help. These are parents who are about to lose their home. These are parents who lost a love one. I have directly witnessed so much loss. It is completely different than hearing about people’s tragedy on the news. This particular quote by MLK Jr resonated with me as I was driving around town. Your support in @stemful.sf is indirectly helping other parents right now. Wishing you a beautiful Friday.
