As you May have heard Contra Costa county has made it to the next tier! From the county! What does this mean for StarCycle? . . Nothing has changed for our riders as we will taming OUTDOORS for now .... We will begin moving indoors soon but at this point we have made the decision to keep our current schedule outdoors . We have a our confirmed indoor transition plans ready to go and will give our StarFam plenty of notice on the transition timeline and safety protocols . For now BOOK your OUTDOOR RIDE and come sweat with us! In case you hadn’t seen county info below! . . Thanks to recent progress being made in the fight against COVID-19 in Contra Costa, indoor restaurants, gyms, movie theaters, massage parlors and places of worship may now open with restrictions in the county. The changes come after the county qualified to move into the less restrictive red tier ("substantial") of the state's four-tiered, color-coded reopening system today. Contra Costa had been in the state's purple or "widespread" tier, the most restrictive tier. Moving into the red tier means the following sectors can reopen with modifications: Places of worship, restaurants, movie theaters and museums can be operated indoors at 25% capacity or 100 people, whichever is less, Gyms can reopen indoors at 10% capacity, All personal care services, including massage, can move indoors, Indoor shopping malls can operate at 50% maximum occupancy (instead of 25%). Food courts can also open following the state's guidelines for restaurants, Indoor retail stores can now operate at 50% capacity (instead of 25%) Outdoor playgrounds

Our outdoor series is OPEN for RIDES thanks for much improved weather! Our regular schedule is back up and ready to book and we are so excited to have so many new riders! Never been to StarCycle? Our full body, beat driven workout is sweaty and FUN and includes light weights throughout the ride. We are so ready to focus on our mind + body during this time with you.

We didn’t have morning classes today sadly due to poor air but we do have reason to celebrate. Today is the 16th birthday of this StarCrew (and owner’s son) @jacksonsoine.... 2020 has been a YEAR for teens but Jackson’s ability to live in the present moment, humility, positivity, focus and action on social issues to better our community and constant reminder that music if LIFE. Music makes everything better, the louder the better and nothing can replace the live show

Since we closed our doors temporarily on March 15th we have continued to adapt to every challenge 2020 has thrown our way....we have always said since opened our doors in 2018 that fitness is community. Our team of Instructors and StarCrew all live in our community, have struggled side by side with you over these past 6 months and are committed to BRINGING it every ride to ensure ALL of our bodies stay strong and mental health is a focus. We have GOT this together and no matter what 2020 has coming we are going to keep it sweaty and FUN

Dear StarFam, taking a moment of quiet today to shift away from our current challenges and worry and remember. For those of us that know exactly where we were on September 11th, 2001 at (pst) 5:46am, 6:03am, 9:37am, 10:03am...and 9:59am and 10:28am......we will never forget but we will always, ALWAYS remember the feelings we had the following months when we came together a one.

As red glow of our sky fades in and out and we monitor our air quality hourly to plan our outdoor rides each day! We continue to be beyond grateful for our firefighters and first responders battling these historic fires. Thank you for keeping our communities, families and small businesses safe. California is stronger than we even knew possible

2020 has left us literally speechless as we navigate the newest challenge with fires up and down the entire west coast. We know we can do hard things. We know we will continue to be humble, inclusive, live with humility and gratitude for even the smallest things (fresh air, strong bodies). We know that we will look back on this chapter in our story and realize it has made us all@better humans. But today....it this moment....it is okay to be tired. It is okay to be sad. ...It is okay to be worried. It is okay to eat donuts for every meal. It is okay to take a nap at 3pm. It is okay for online school to feel lonely. It is okay to say it is not okay right now......what we want to remind everyone today is your aren’t alone, remember to exhale, stop consuming news on social media, breathe, pick one thing to do a day that brings you joy and that every day is a new day and tomorrow is going to be GREAT. My little girl has surgery tomorrow and we need all your good thoughts and prayers.... Hip Dysplasia. We knew this was coming. Tomorrow is surgery day for our love. Possibly the first of several. HNRNPH2 mutation unfortunately causes neuromuscular hip dysplasia for many with the disorder. Tomorrow they break and reposition the femurs and deepen the hip sockets. We hear it’s a tough recovery. Please pray for our girl. And consider donating to @yellowbrickroadproject to help find a cure for this awful disease. #rosiegirl @glenn_bobby #hnrnph2

I’m what we call one of the OG instructors, having been with StarCycle since the beginning. I’m an East Bay native and grew up in Walnut Creek. I was lucky to move out to Danville 7 years ago with my twin boys, Calum and Owen. More about me! . . Fitness is my passion, but my original passion started with horses. I grew up with horses, riding since I was seven. I rode English, specifically hunter/jumpers. I love the outdoor sports and water sports. House boating on Lake Shasta is my favorite! I enjoy a good ribeye steak, mashed potatoes and a glass of vino, but I’ll take down sushi any day of the week! I’m also a huge music fan! I love all kinds of genres, but I’m known for finding old school remixes and mashups. I’m so looking forward to sharing my music finds with YOU!! Dear StarFam, . Two weeks from today we open our doors and will celebrate so many emotions! The past few much have been a challenge both mentally and physically. Wherever your body is today is where it is meant to be. Being healthy in mind + body isn’t about eating fat free, cutting out all sweets or finding the perfect fad diet. Being healthy in mind + body means being the best version of YOU. You won’t hear us say things like COVID 19 as a weight reference, you ...won’t see StarCycle recommend diet plans for the summer or restrictive meal plans. Fitness is health health, mental health and your journey needs to start with being comfortable with YOU. I have been asked in the past how to get the best bikini body...you know my answer? My a bikini on your body. Give yourself grace, find a fitness outlet that is FUN, let go of what you think you should look like and just BE. That is when the real magic in life happens. Two weeks till we see you in person and we can’t WAIT : . . . Instructor Spotlight : Jenny Lee ... . . If I haven’t had the chance to meet you yet, I can’t wait to do so in a few short weeks. I am a Danville native who never thought I would come back to my small town! And after college (CO DUCKS!) I am so grateful that my two kids (Lucy 12/Miles 9) are growing up here. I met my husband, Lloyd, at a marketing agency in SF and we’ve been married for 15 yrs. . . MORE ABOUT ME: I’m a sucker for a good dance party, anything related to Justin Timberlake (we almost touched hands at a concert in 07’) and I’m currently obsessed with Schitt’s Creek. I love a good NZ Sav Blanc, Reese’s PB cups, any flavor of HaloTop and 11th Tiger Thai food! If you haven’t read Untamed by Glennon Doyle you must. As we prepare for our re-opening we get asked the question a lot: How are you doing?...anyone else want to answer GREAT! But realize that question is loaded with crazy emotion and weird answers? . . . One thing we can say is this....Whether it is fitness, self care/mental health, work, parenting or activism taking even the smallest step in the right direction can be the biggest step in your life. Control and act on what you CAN DO...not what you cannot.

As we get ready to open our door July 1st we want to spotlight our incredible instructors! . . . Instructor Spotlight: Danica Aquino... . . Hey StarFam! SO excited to RIDE with you in a couple weeks! For our riders I haven’t met yet a little bit about me, or things you may not know: I was both on a military base in Oakland, lives in Monterrey and now the East Bay! Sushi is my favorite food, I love road trips and my favorite outdoor getaway is Yosemite. I am Filipino, Mexican and Hawaiian and I love ALL music that makes me wanna dance, I have a dog named Flip and a kitty named Brazil (any other YG fans out there?), I am also obsessed with stationary planners, notebook pens. I am teaching more classes when we open so come and RIDE with me! See more

Safety for our StarFam community has always been our top priority! As we finalize our opening date in the coming days please look for an email with our detailed safety protocols. Many of these protocols have always been in place but new ones include: one way to enter and one way to exit, smaller class sizes, touch less check in, 5 touch less hand sanitizing stations, weights and towels by request pre assigned bikes numbers when you book your ride and MORE! It is going to be INCREDIBLE to be together soon...we are so close to the finish line StarFam!

We are getting ready to open our doors StarFam! The state of California is opening all gyms and fitness June 12th, and as of yesterday our county has delayed the state by two weeks. HOWEVER, things have been changing on a daily basis and we aren’t giving up on our June 15th date! In the meantime look for detailed information by Wednesday on our class times, new pricing options, extensive safety protocols, our ongoing community efforts to support equality and change....it is happening and we are going to be ready @ StarCycle

As we prepare for opening our doors in the coming weeks we are THRILLED to share the news that our StarFam Instructor line up has added Amanda Fisher! If you haven’t seen her riding in the studio you may have seen her beautiful kids Maddie, Regan or baby Bryce. Here is more about Amanda and her WHY! Come ride with her weekly 7am Tuesday’s, 4:30pm Wednesdays and Friday’s at 10:30am . . . My journey with Starcycle began over a year ago, when I was three months pregnant w...ith my third child, tired, sick, and feeling anxious. The ride challenged my body in new ways and fueled my mind, reminding me I CAN do hard things. It gave me energy to tackle the rest of the day, and left me feeling stronger in my changing body. Plus, it was FUN! I’ve taught group fitness before and love leading people in discovering the strength of their bodies and, more importantly, their minds. I’m passionate about the beauty of movement and the mind-body connection.... Most of the time, movement makes us feel strong and powerful. But it can humble us, remind us we’re not perfect, that it’s ok to feel weak sometimes and remind us that what matters most is showing up for yourself and doing your best every day. Our SHINING Nat’s story has us and is why she is our inspiration in mind + body.... . . Repost from @nataleecristiani ... May is #mentalhealthawarenessmonth and since this is such a historically stigmatized topic, it took me almost the full month to build up the courage to post this. Everyone who struggles with their mental health has a different journey, this is part of a piece I wrote on mine: . . Sometimes I would go days feeling like I couldn’t breathe. When I finally could, I feared the moment when my breath would be taken away from me again and the tightness in my chest would creep back. Anxiety is the fear of the unknown and not only did I have that, I had the fear OF the fear of the unknown. I was afraid of my own mind and the power it had to make my body feel debilitatingly tense and afraid. I couldn’t sleep at night, it was dark and I was vulnerable and the world was quiet. I would wake up in the middle of the night, heart pounding and in a panic. I wanted it to be morning to get out of the darkness, to get out of my mind and distract myself. This went on for years, but not many people knew this. I didn’t know how to escape it, how to emerge from this constant terror I felt inside of my physically strong yet mentally and emotionally feeble body. I’m still not fully out, but I can say that I’m proud of myself for the progress I’ve made. I still find myself slipping back down the spiral and falling back into the black hole of my mind, imagining the worst, fearing the tightness. . . There’s so much going on in the world right now and everyone’s coping differently. I’m lucky enough to have conquered (most of) my fears with my anxiety & panic disorder over the last 10 years but not everyone can say the same. This is a time of heightened anxiety, stress and uncertainty right now and it’s OK to not feel ok. This week our town is usually packed with 5th and 8th grade promotion celebrations, graduations events, field days and the SRV grad night community preview tradition. Even though this week looks different friends and families are coming together to find new ways to make our kids feel special and seen....for our 8 graduating seniors @cassidy.ross @emmaburke13 @bri.giolzetti @gabi.scheibley @lilywelsh_ @dodd_christina (Anna Ralstonand Johnny Carter) our 1st ever Senior Star project began with you! Some days are more challenging than others, days where you feel like you are one step forward and two steps back...anyone else agree? For our small business we have never worked harder to adapt, trying new things be present and ready for our incredible community and every new turn. Is it perfect? No. Is it where we thought we would be this time in 2020? No. But are we committed our StarFam’s mind + body journey, wherever that path leads? YES!! Adapt. A word that can be motivating and also incredibly defeating during SIP. Many of us are navigating new paths, learning new skills (I am now trained in how to install and use a mixer for our live DJ ride @djworkssf, thanks to the talented @rmcardle ), we have discovered what makes us vulnerable and uncomfortable. But to adapt it to grow. Our new normal is what we experience in the present. So our incredible StarFam will adapt and support because our community is what makes us all STRONGER TOGETHER @ StarCycle

Star Spotlight . . Who is that person, behind the scenes in your life, who you couldn’t do what you do without? Who is that person in your life who is selfless, giving, thinking of everyone else and always there to pitch in during the good times and challenging time? Who is that person in your life who thinks if not only their family and friends but also their communities before themselves? Tag them with Star ! Our SHINING is @faustkathleen . Not only does she help keep@our Star community connected with her StarKids craft classes, organizes the studio, TIK TOKS and booty classes but she is also an incredible caregiver for her family AND part of @mangiamikitchen (their incredible food) and their hospital and homeless food prep and donations. And you would never know it because sometimes strongest at heroes are silent

Be YOU. Do YOU. Authenticity, humility and vulnerability = STRENGTH. Self care isn’t a contest, you can’t be the winner of self care. It is always your grass to grow.

Everyone counts. SIP for some is easy, SIP for some is the hardest challenge they have faced, SIP has resulted in job loss, SIP has made us slow down, SIP has brought some families together and created distance between others. We being week 10 of SIP and as our StarFam continues to adapt what we KNOW to be true is EVERYBODY counts, your feelings matter, we see YOU and we are always stronger when we work together.
