Why Bilateral vs Unilateral? - Unilateral work is important because requires greater proprioception and core stability than bilateral movements, whether you're sprinting, throwing, cutting or jumping, it's rare for both of limbs to be used simultaneously during movements, and helps improve muscular imbalances since athletes cannot rely on your stronger side to make up for a lack of strength in your weaker side. - Bilateral work is important because you can lift more weight wh...ich increases neuromuscular and CNS adaptations, allows for reciprocal inhibition which is the relaxation of muscles on one side of a joint so that prime movers on the other side can perform an action with greater force, and trains both sides at the same time which prevents pre set fatigue on the central nervous system that may happen during a unilateral set when having to switch sides. - @jthill42 @sierraenge @tito_suave @jpnumber21. - #NerdNation #GoStanford #Stanford #SportsPerformance #SportScience #118andcounting # #HardWork #FarmLife @ Stanford, California See more

Kettlebell swings and variations are a great way to develop the posterior chain and reinforce the hinge pattern. - There are many variations of the swing, adding complexity to the movement, which can challenge the neuromuscular system outside of just increasing load. - Double-handed, single-arm, dynamic, band resisted, suitcase, etc., are all great variations of the swing movement that can be used in a series of complexes, for time or for reps.... - Some cues to keep in mind: - Push the hips back. - Brace the core. - Keep the bell close. - Relatively vertical shin angle. - Keep lats engaged. - @theaustinbarnes. - #NerdNation #GoStanford #Stanford #SportsPerformance #SportScience #117andcounting # #HardWork #FarmLife See more
