Krista, JD '15, and Darryl, JD '17, share how a BLSA event started their future together: "We first met at Stanford’s Admitted Students Weekend (ASW) in 2014. Krista was the Co-President of the Stanford Black Law Student Association (BLSA), and she was preparing to meet all of newly admitted students to convince them that Stanford was the place for them to spend the next three years. Darryl was close to not attending the event; he flew in late that night from Chicago. After ...being convinced by his BLSA host to go out to NOLA, a local restaurant in downtown Palo Alto, to meet the rest of the admitted students, Darryl walked into the restaurant by the time many of the other admitted students had already left. That’s when we first met and when Darryl claims that he decided that he was coming to Stanford. We actually did not talk much about Stanford that weekend, instead we talked mostly about each other’s interests and found time to talk to each other between the official admitted students weekend activities. Fast-forward six years and we are celebrating our fourth month together as husband and wife." See more

Laura and Neil, Class of '14, share their story: "We first met in Constitutional Law 1L year, but didn't become friends until we both joined SLS's unofficial Fancy Beer Club later that year. Our first date was 3L year, at a vegetarian Chinese restaurant off University Avenue. I'm a lifelong vegetarian and knew Neil was a sweet guy worth keeping around because he picked a restaurant I could eat everything at! We were married in October 2018, almost exactly five years after our first date in Palo Alto, surrounded by many members of our SLS family."

From the Navy to SLS , Russ and Sandy share their story: Sandy and I met in 1997, when we were both newly commissioned ensigns in the United States Navy, starting flight school in Pensacola, Florida. The Navy kept us together by chance for the next five years we discovered to our great surprise that we were in love, and were married about a year before we left the Navy. We both decided to apply to Stanford Law School and I still remember the thrill of not just being accepted to the same school, but to Stanford, our #1 dream school! We both loved our time there, not just because of the fantastic education and wonderful community, but also because our first two children were born while we were law students (our third came later after we moved to Texas).
