Preschool Lesson: January 17, 2021 TODAY’S BIBLE STORY: Calming the Storm- Jesus’ Power is Amazing (Matthew 8:23-27) MEMORY VERSE: Everyone who heard him was amazed. (Luke 2:47, NIV) KEY QUESTION: Who is amazing? BOTTOM LINE: Jesus is amazing. ... BASIC TRUTH: Jesus wants to be my friend forever. When Jesus and His friends were on the boat, a huge storm came and frightened the disciples, but Jesus was asleep. They were so scared that they woke Jesus up and asked Him for help. Jesus stood up and told the storm to stop, and it did! His friends were amazed that Jesus had the power to stop the storm. Jesus is God’s Son, and He can do amazing things. Who is amazing? Jesus is amazing. We all get scared sometimes. Even me! The dark, a new school, a new babysitter, or bad storms, like the one Jesus’ friends were afraid of, can scare anyone. But guess what? We don’t have to be afraid because another amazing thing about Jesus is that He is always with us. Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus to help us when we’re afraid. He is SO amazing and so powerful that He can even stop a storm. When we are scared, please help us remember that you are with us, and you are SO powerful. You are out-of-this-world amazing! Thank you for being there with us through everything, and thank you for being our friend forever. We love you, Amen.

TODAY’S BIBLE STORY: "Give It Away; Bigger Barns" (Luke 12:16-21) TODAY’S BOTTOM LINE: Share what you have. MONTHLY MEMORY VERSE: "Suppose you can be trusted with something very little. Then you can also be trusted with something very large." (Luke 16:10a, NIrV) MONTHLY LIFE APP: ResponsibilityShowing you can be trusted with what is expected of you. BASIC TRUTH: I should treat others the way I want to be treated.... When Jesus was on Earth, He went around teaching and performing miracles. Crowds followed Him wherever He went. They listened, they watched, and they asked Him questions. When two brothers were arguing over property, Jesus used this parable, or story, to teach them about sharing: A very wealthy man had harvested a large crop- more food than he could eat! How will I store everything?, he thought. After building a bigger barn for all his extra grain, and sitting back to relax, God spoke to him, If you were to leave Earth tonight, you couldn’t take your grain with you, it would sit to rot. Instead, share what you have. He explained, That is how it will be for whoever stores things away for themselves but is not rich in the sight of God. (Luke 12:21) Jesus wanted the people who were listening that day to understand something important: we have a responsibility to share with others. Remember . . . Share what you have. After all, everything that we have comes from God. We should be willing to share it with others. The truth is, no one is going to MAKE you share. I mean, your parents might make you share things with your siblings right now. But as you get older, you’ll find more and more that the choice is up to you. And sharing is a BIG way that you can show that you follow Jesus. Remember, Jesus Himself lived a life of generosity. In fact, He gave His LIFE freely so that we could be forgiven! So, don’t just worry about what you can get for yourself. Be willing to share what you have. Think of it this way. You’d want others to share with you, right? So when you share what you have, you’re treating others the way you want to be treated. Whether it’s a bowl of popcorn on movie night . . . or a turn at your new video game. . . it’s simple: share what you have. Our verse says that responsibilitylike sharingstarts small. First we are responsible for a few things, but then God will trust us with more as we do things well. Our amount of responsibility will grow. As you get older, you will have more responsibilities, but that also means you’ll have more ways to share what you have. Dear God, thank You for all that You have given us. We want to follow Jesus’ example to share what we have. Help us be generous with everyone around us. Help us show Your love to other people by the way we share. We love You, and we pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen.
