Highland Elementary School's Teacher of the Year is Mr. McGill. In addition to teaching 4th grade, he has served as a Student Council Advisor and Ed Tech Mentor and is always willing to help where there is a need. Standard Middle School's Teacher of the Year is Miss Sanders. In addition to teaching Science, she has served as an Ed Tech Mentor, played a key role in field trips, and assisted with awards. She works hard to include inquiry-based, hands-on learning activities, as she believes that students learn best when their curiosity motivates them. She has been a go-to tech person for colleagues who describe her as wonderfully humble. Congratulations Miss Sanders! #SSDWeCare

Wingland Elementary School's Teacher of the Year is Mrs. Shea. Mrs. Shea is a member of Wingland's Special Education Certificated Staff. Her experience and wisdom are valued by her colleagues who describe her as an exceptional communicator, caring, empathetic, supportive, dedicated, and inspirational. Her love for her students and their families is evident, and she has a positive and welcoming presence on campus. Congratulations Mrs. Shea! #SSDWeCare

Standard School District and Site Offices will be closed Monday, February 15 in honor of the Washington holiday. In 1885, the holiday in honor of President George Washington’s Birthday joined four other nationally recognized federal bank holidays: Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, the Fourth of July, and Thanksgiving. It was the first to celebrate the life of an individual American. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, signed into law in 1983, was the second.

Teamwork! That's how we do things at Standard School District! Kudos to our transportation team who work side by side with our nutrition team to ensure our students in Oildale are provided meals daily via pick up at school sites or delivered to multiple bus stops.

I'm sharing information on the new California Parent and Youth Helpline. This Helpline provides live interaction with trained professional via phone, text or chat. In addition, parents can sign up online for parenting support groups. Please see the attached fliers.
