This week's Spiritual Thought: "When you hear the words of the Prophets, spoken as it were personally, do not imagine that they are spoken by the inspired persons themselves. It is the Divine Word who moves them." - St. Justin the Martyr
His Eminence, Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco visited the St. George Greek Orthodox parish of Palm Desert, California on Sunday, January 22, 2012 and officially accepted for the parish a relic from St. Gerasimos of Cephalonia (a worn-out slipper from the Saint's vestments). His Eminence noted that this relic reminds us that God's grace works through everything about our existence as we dedicate our lives and the things in our lives for God's Glory and for the salvation of others. Pictured with His Eminence, Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco, is the pastor of the St. George parish, Fr. Theodore Pantels. At the far left is the encased relic of St. Gerasimos of Cephalonia
This week's Spiritual Thought: "Becoming a dweller in this world, and giving commandments of salvation, He [our Lord Jesus Christ] released us from the delusions of idols, and brought us into a knowledge of You, the true God and Father, having won us unto Himself for His own people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation..." The Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great
This week's Spiritual Thought: "There are many prayers which we will discuss in their place as far as we can. The most outstanding of all is the one given by God in the Gospels, the 'Our Father,' since it contains in brief all the evangelical knowledge and power." St. Symeon of Thessaloniki
Spiritual Thought for this week: "We can acquire clarity of mind through prayer, by which we must implore the Holy Spirit to pour His divine light into our hearts." - St. Nicodemos, Unseen Warfare
This Week's Spiritual Thought: "The greatest and most perfect thing a person can desire to attain is to come near to God and to dwell in unity with God." St. Nicodemos, Unseen Warfare
