It was a wonderful summer learning experience. After a while, got time to spend and learn traditional evergreen Repertoire items in India. Each item is unique. Always I had a mindset to stick with one style of Bharathanatyam. But now, started to explore the beauty of other styles of Natyam. I got a chance to learn about Mysore style Purvaranga Vidhi, an authentic composition of Tanjavur quartet’s Varnam which was composed by Legendary Guru Ponniah Pillai; which wouldn’t be po...ssible without Shri Adhithya’s guidance. I came to know that he learned the item a long back from Padmashree. Sudharani Raghupathy Akka which reminded me my learning sessions with Akka. 12 years back in the corridor of Madras University Dance department, we were very excitingly practicing the Korvai’s of Hindolam thillana which I got to learn directly from Padmashree. Sudharani Akka. Again, because of Shri. Adhithya, I learned a major Navaraagamaalika Varnam on praise of Thanjavur Brihadeeswara to whom I always longing for his dheeksha in my life.. Finally, a delightful thillana on Praise of Thirupathi Venkatachalapathy which was again choreographed by Padmashree. Sudharani Raghupathy Akka. This would have not been possible without my family’s support. Leaving my lil’ ones for the first time and travelling to hometown was the worst part. But this time my kids happily said yes Mama it’s time for you to start travelling towards your passion. On the other end, every single day my mom spent with me and loved watching her daughter learn . My grandma - because of her, my journey started in Bharatham and I remember that always she used to call me for quick water break during my session just to make sure I am refresh and ready to get back to practice. Still she remembers everything what she did 25 years back and said that she got one more chance to prepare juice for my current practice session (lol).. All remembered my childhood learning sessions. I am so blessed to have such an understanding family and well-wishers around. Hoping to continue my journey with all your blessings. It was a privilege to showcase our Indian culture and tradition through Bharatanatyam. Happy to share about Lord Sri Rama and his peaceful Chemistry which he carried throughout his life. Kudos to my students for their dedication and hard work.

My Students @ India Fest 2018

Internalizing the rythm/thala pattern and executing it with perfection needs dedication and wisdom! Kids at current generation are able to prove it starting from their early childhood. Excellent work done by my little one at 5!

Have your kid(s) utilize this summer by exploring and experiencing techniques of Bharatanatyam. Sessions will be informative as well as fun. By learning Bharatanatyam children will enter the life of discipline, passion and confidence!
