Adopted! #AdoptMe #RescueMe For almost 14 years Elsie & Marie shared holidays with their beloved family. Times have been rough for many this year and their... humans experienced this first hand and found themselves relocating out of State. There was no hesitation that Elsie & Marie would be going and a vet appointment was made ahead of time to have them both travel ready. Flights were booked, bags were packed, house was packed up, kids were transferred to new schools and temporary accommodations were set up in the receiving State with a family member until they could get situated. Everything and everyone was ready to go. Anxiety was understandably high as they were venturing into new territory, but they were doing it together or so they had thought. The day before departure the bombshell was dropped that the family member hosting the California family could not accommodate the cats and respectfully the owners of Elsie & Marie didn't want to fight about the matter. They showed up at our doors, in a panic, uncertain about what they could or should do. Two very loved, very cared for senior kitties were looking bewildered and laying low in their crates as they listened to the sadness in their owners' voice. We accepted Elsie & Marie, without judgement, with understanding of the predicament their humans were in and to alleviate some of the anxiety and stress they already were drowning in. It wasn't easy for them. Tears were shed, but they could breathe a little easier for a moment. Elsie was happily adopted last week. Her sister Marie was adopted from our shelter 13 years ago as a kitten. This beautiful calico girl is friendly, an expert muffin maker and very well taken care of. She has a little mew and loves snuggles. If there isn't a human to cuddle Marie will find her way under her beds / blankets and poke her beautiful emerald green peepers out from under them with a tiny "mew" of hello. She has had a recent dental cleaning and full senior cat work up and is healthy. Marie isn't an active kitten, but she is a healthy 14 year old cat that is still mobile and very accustomed to indoor living, cushioned comforts and having a family. If you feel your home would be suited to this beauty please call (925) 779-6989 to schedule an appointment to meet a wonderful girl. #LoveIsAtTheCornerOf2ndAndL #SecondChances #NextChapter #Next8Lives #SeniorCatsRule
