SJSU Journalism faculty and students were so very proud to present the prestigious national Hearst Foundation Award to Alexander Shebanow and Dan Rather for their explosive documentary "Fail State." It's a eye-opening look at the corrupt for-profit college industry that offer worthless degrees and leaves people with major debt for years. Bravo Alex!!!
SJSU Journalism students watched the explosive documentary "Fail State," then met the 29 year old driving force who envisioned how to produce it. He shared his passion with veteran newsman Dan Rather who agreed to be his partner, and help get this important film in front of millions.

Thursday, Nov. 14th - Yoshihiro Uchida Hall, Room 124, 6 PM to 8 PM For the first time, SJSU Journalism School faculty will honor two outstanding journalism partners from different generations and present the 2019 William Randolph Hearst Foundation Award for Outstanding Professional Media Service to journalists Alexander Shebanow and Dan Rather for their eye-opening and explosive investigative reporting on the growing student loan debt crisis in the United States.
The Homecoming 2019 gathering @ SJSU Journalism was a moving and powerful experience for Update News former students of Prof. Darla Belshe. Bob Reynolds joined us for a farewell tribute to an outstanding instructor, mentor and friend.
