We still have 11 blood donation appointments available for our Tuesday, December 22nd American Red Cross blood drive. Please consider giving the gift of blood next week! Go to www.redcrossblood.org and search SOPASLIB to schedule an appointment. Thank you!
Every year our Teen Advisory Board puts together a list of recommended titles from the library. Board Member Tomás recommends Dear Martin by Nic Stone. "Dear Martin is an important book. It shows that even if you are privileged, the color of your skin still greatly affects your life no matter what school you go to. The main character, Justyce, is shown this through the differences in the injustices that occur to him and his friends." Check out this year's full list and find your next great read: https://tinyurl.com/y5j6gq3d
#FlashbackFriday Did you know reckless driving was a serious problem in the town of South Pasadena in the 1910s? The motorcycle policemen in this photo posed while pretending to write a ticket, which were given to anyone going more than 15 miles per hour in town during this time. To check out more photos like this one, visit the Local History Flickr Collection: https://www.flickr.com/photos/sopaslibrary/
There's a new tab on OverDrive just for comics, manga, and graphic novels! It's an easier way to browse our titles on OverDrive, which is free with your South Pasadena Public Library card. Here's a tip: digital comics are much easier to read on a tablet or laptop/computer--it's hard to see all the fun and action on a small phone screen! Repost from @ktlagayle The much anticipated Ray Bradbury inspired fused glass windows...at South Pasadena Public Library on the West side of Library Park (near the Moreton Bay Fig "Library Tree")! Visit with your family group (masked and distancing from others, of course) to see them light up! Local artist Tim Carey Studio designed and created the three panels at Judson Studios in South Pasadena. They are beautiful ! #raybradbury #fusedglassart @judsonstudios @timcareystudio
