Winter has arrived! Special thanks to a small #volunteer strike team for clearing 10 trees from the Goat Mountain Ninja trail today. The time has come to winterize the trails. As soon as the forest opens we will be holding an official work day to prepare our trails for the rest of the winter season. Also, if you had plans to ride these trails please respect the trails and the people that keep them running and let them dry out over the next couple of days. The melting snow has created quite a bit of mud which will contribute to trail damage if ridden. Should be ready to rip this weekend!

We know there are many wondering how our trails fared during the #creekfire. The news is overwhelmingly good. Only trail that was directly in the burn zone was the sky fall trail off the back of shuteye. Now for the bad news, fire fighting efforts included bulldozing a last contingency line to protect structures near bass lake in the event the fire made it down to the lake. This line ran up the ridge near the bottom of 007 all the way up to the 3rd section. The images show th...at while portions of the trail were spared, quite a bit of trail will be affected by these dozer lines. We are eagerly awaiting when the #USFS will open the #sierranationalforest so that we can get eyes on the damage. Until then please be prepared to chip in and #volunteer at our next work day to prepare the trails for the coming winter months. Also, if you are not yet a member or have had your membership lapse, please sign up on our website to be included on our workday emails and other news. Lastly, the SNF is closed until at least November 1st. Please respect the closure by making plans to ride elsewhere until we are able to return to our great trails. See more

If anyone is looking to help out the people evacuated the #creekfire , the church across from Clovis north is a drop off zone and they along with Clovis north are allowing people to stay with there campers or whatever they have. They said they don’t need water or Gatorade any more but dry foods, clothes, baby supplies and $25 gift cards for Walmart are needed.

If you are looking for an awesome trail with flowy singletrack, some technical sections and fun berms please check out the Potter Pass trail tomorrow. There are a couple people from the kaiser foundation that would like nothing more than to see us banned from riding this ripper of a trail. Mike Nolan of the USFS will be on hand at the Badger Flat parking lot tomorrow. It would go a long way if anyone that is able can get up to the cool air above Huntington tomorrow and ride this trail as well as talk to Mike about what a great ride it is. Here’s a little reminder of the results that come from trail misuse and neglect. These were taken 3 years ago on the lower half of 007. Comment period on the MRP that will determine the fate of 007 ends Monday, July 27th at midnight. Please send in your comments if you have not done so. YSGTC is supporting alternative 3 (the compromise that we worked on with the stewards of the snf) as long as the design criteria used in the implementation of this plan maintains a high qualit...y user experience for #mountainbiking . Sad to say but obviously our 3rd work day of the year will need to be scheduled for a later date. The willow creek causeway project will have to wait. When it is deemed safe to congregate with other humans on our planet we will send out an update for our next work day. Until then, stay safe and healthy out there!
