Happy National Cat Day!! We simply LOVE our current feline tenants, so many amazing personalities it's hard to know who to feature! Well, we decided that these 9 cuties are the cat's meow and we wanted to introduce you! Here's a little bit about these adoptable love muffins:... 1. Patrice- Her eyes light up whenever you're playing with her, petting her, or just hanging out with her! 2. Radagast- Simply the nicest kitty ever! 3. Huckleberry- Loves to give hugs! 4. Miss Kitty- Sweet girl who loves laps! 5. Ares- A playful lap cat who wants love ALL the time! 6. Bonita- Confident in her independence yet still amazingly affectionate! 7. Misha- Excellent biscuit maker! 8. Stewie- Once he trusts you, he never wants the petting to stop! 9. Sushi- Thinks you're the coolest, and wants to hang out with you all the time! The Guevara-Otwell family were looking for a new little companion to join their family. They went online and saw Zero listed for adoption, so they called in and learned all about his spunky personality and fell in love. There was someone else ahead of them in line, so they put their names in as a backup hold and patiently waited. Not long after, they got the call that the family ahead of them had decided not to adopt, opening the way for them to come meet Zero! They were so excited and booked the first appointment the next morning so that they could meet him as soon as possible. After spending time with him and seeing his spunky personality for themselves they decided that he was the guy for them and finalized their adoption. Congratulations and happy trails!!!
We’re so grateful for the many ways our friends put their compassion into action! The recent fires in our area inspired Suzy, a kind soul and fellow animal lover, to create a t-shirt fundraiser with proceeds going to the animals in our care! Check out her designs and shop for shirts here: https://www.bonfire.com/one-fineash-collection160-5/ and here: https://www.bonfire.com/one-fineash-collection160-4/ Suzy thank you for your creativity and support for the animals!
It's the Perfect Time to Help the Animals! The CARES Act makes this the perfect time to help even more animals and save on your taxes! The CARES Act was implemented by Congress to help our nation through the COVID crisis. A lesser-known benefit of the CARES Act may be helpful in your tax planning for 2020.... "Happiness is being loved by a pit bull." Happy National Pit Bull Awareness Day! We love these big, goofy and loveable dogs and wanted to feature the pit bulls we currently have at the shelter on this beautiful Tongue Out Tuesday! Gambit, Velvet and Babyface want to say howdy and let you know they're waiting patiently for their forever homes. Click through to their photos to read a little more about each of them.
Our Halloween Quilt auction was a great success and raised $445 for the animals thanks to our wonderful participants!! Thank you to our winner, Arletta, and thank you to everyone who bid!!
Happy Monday from Shaggy and his new family! Sunny and Alex had been searching for a German Shepherd to adopt for some time. They are definite shepherd people- they had owned shepherds previously and when they saw that we had several shepherds up for adoption they called in to learn more about them. After talking about each dog, they decided that Shaggy sounded like the best fit. They made an appointment to come in to meet him and within minutes they had both fallen deeply in love with the gentle giant. They made his adoption official and took the big boy on home to begin his new life. Happy trails, Shaggy!

Meet Sophie, one of our very first patients when the Community Veterinary Clinic first opened. Sophie's mom is retired and on a fixed income, and when Sophie needed surgery to remove several masses, she could not afford to have it done at her regular vet so she came to the CVC. Last year Sophie was featured with Dr. Ada in the Press Democrat, and she paid us another visit this past week to check up on a few new bumps. We ran some diagnostic tests and determined that the new masses are benign. The CVC is a community safety net program. With your donations we are able to help animals like Sophie. To donate to the CVC visit: https://humanesocietysoco.org/donate-to-the-community-vete/
