Join others this weekend as Salomon athlete, Jeffrey Stern, from Santa Barbara attempts the FKT on our beautifully, challenging Backbone Trail!!!! Yep ~ THIS Saturday, November 7th...starting at 5:30am / Will Rogers State Park, Jeff will begin his race against the clock. He hopes to finish just before sunset at 4:57pm with a new FKT around 11 hours. Yeehaw!!!! The record is currently held by Jeff Browning 11:36:46...let's... help Jeffrey Stern bring the FKT back to SoCal with some hootin' and hollerin'. Who's with me??? Come out and cheer Jeff along the course: Local runner Ben Atkins will be keeping Jeff on target from Stunt Road (~8am start to Encinal Road ~12 noon arrival). Here's a bit more about our awesome guests... Michael Dimkich is a professional guitarist who is currently a member of the punk rock band Bad Religion. He is also a competitive road cyclist and an ultra-marathon runner. Michael began running ultra marathons in 2001 and as of 2003, he has run more than ten. His proudest accomplishments are finishing AC 100 in 27 hours, Comrades Marathon in under 9 hours and holding a Marathon PR of 3:08. Michael started running while on the road as a way to explore new cities and stay fit. He has played with Channel 3, Suckerpunch, Steve Jones and toured with The Cult from 1993-2013. In 2013, Michael joined Bad Religion. When he is not traveling the world, he enjoys hitting the Santa Monica Mountains for all day adventures. Kyle Whalum is a professional bassist and mountain/ultra/trail running enthusiast who just relocated to Los Angeles, along with his wife and two young children, from Nashville Tennessee. Kyle discovered running in 2009 and found it to be a helpful way to balance or break bad habits he’d developed on the road touring. After running a handful of road 5k's, half marathons, and marathons, he discovered a passion for trail running and trained for his first 50k in 2012. Since then, he’s completed over 16 ultramarathons including four 100 mile footraces. As a musician, he’s performed with a diverse roster of artists such as Brett Eldridge, LeAnn Rimes, Megan Trainor, Kelly Clarkson and Katy Perry. When he’s not training for his 5th attempt at the 100 mile distance, you can find him weekdays on NBC as a member of the house band "Y’all on The Kelly Clarkson Show. Woohoo ~ is it Tuesday yet? After months of waiting for the trails in Las Virgenes View Park to open, we are now entering wildfire season in addition to the virus and the Park Service simply will not permit our race. The silver lining you might ask? The trails on the Millennium Loop are NOW open to the public and we have all your Race swag ready to be earned. Saturday ~ June 13, 2020***Phantom Trail Races***

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the postponement of the Phantom Trail Races on April 4th. Personally we struggled with producing the races even if permitted, but the Park Service made that decision for us this afternoon. The National Park Service will no longer allow gatherings/events of more than 10 people. We are looking at available Saturdays in June to reschedule. Soon as we have a date locked in with the State and National Parks, we will announce it!... In the event that you cannot make the future date, we will roll your registration fees over to the 2021 date OR you can use your credit for any of our future 2020 races. We appreciate your patience and continued support through the years, but especially these past few months. With the postponement of the Singletrack Stampede Races earlier this month and now the Phantom Trail Races, we feel like we've had a false start to our Series. We know that once we come together however, none of this will matter. We have the best community! Rest assured that when this happens, we'll still be keeping your health and safety a #1 priority. Last year we switched to pre-packaged Smuckers uncrustable sandwiches rather than homemade PB&J at our Aid Stations, because honestly...after 20 minutes of a PB&J cut into quarters sitting around, well ~ we don't need to tell you how dry and nasty they get. Let's not even talk about sweaty runner hands. Just know we've always had your back and will continue to do so moving forward. As many of you know, the tragic helicopter accident that took the lives of 9 people on Sunday crashed on the Singletrack Stampede course... I am in communicatio...n with the Park Service and a close friend who was a First Responder. The Investigation has concluded and removal of the debris has started. I have chosen to cancel the training run this Saturday allowing more time to process and heal. We will post here if/when we reschedule. However ~ the race is still scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 7th. We will know in the coming weeks if we need to change the course at all, but I promise to bring this community together and do what we love most...and that is run! We're celebrating with a larger EXPO, a Charity run for the Homeless Animals and the return of some of our favorite Partners JOi Cafe and Vision For Enrichment!
