The No. 1 Issue of 2020: The Masonic Style Issue The Masonic Style Issue was our publication’s first double issue. An idea labeled as far-fetched the year before, became a challenge to produce. Nine photo shoots (all shot by a two person crew). Seven models (that were actual Masonic Brothers). Over 3,000 photographs (only 30 photos made it into the final issue). Six writers. Masonic scholar Angel Millar as the guest editor. And the Covid-19 Pandemic (must we say more).... It became three issues rolled into one. The Masonic Style issue was the MOST ambitious issue of the Fraternal Review’s publishing history. And it needed to be. If we were going to address style and Freemasonry in one publication we wanted to make sure we hit the bulls eye in combining a rarely discussed topic into a fun and accessible educational study. We wanted to emulate a men’s fashion magazine from the photo spreads to the advertising one saw in the final issue. It’s the first time we’ve ever seen such an attempt in any Masonic publication. Thanks to the visual talents of photographer Leticia Burgos, The Masonic Style Issue was not just a beautiful coffee table-esque cornucopia of fantastic imagery, but an educational journey through the fabrics that Masons, at this time, wear. Our hope is that it will serve as a time capsule, capturing the various threads Masons wore in and out their lodges, at this time. Thank you for making The Masonic Style Issue the most popular issue of the year and for supporting us in 2020. We look forward to serving you in 2021. Have a safe, healthy and HAPPY NEW YEAR! To celebrate we have a limited amount of PHYSICAL copies available through our website: www.TheResearchLodge.com

As the year draws to a close we at the ‘Fraternal Review’ would like to highlight what YOU, our readership, bestowed the top 3 issues of 2020 based on online sales. At No. 2: Fight Club & Freemasonry The title almost sounds anachronistic, but as the issue’s editor and Lodge Master of the SCRL Dago Rodriguez, PM explained it, The story of Fight Club is about the absence of role models in our lives and Freemasonry is about striving to become a civil servant and a role model... to others. It would make sense to explore the two in relation to each other. In the wake of the Covid-19 Pandemic this issue was released on April 1, 2020 to intrigue and acceptance making it the second most popular issue of the year. As the year draws to a close we at the Fraternal Review would like to highlight what YOU, our readership, bestowed the top 3 issues of 2020 based off online sales. At No. 3: Freemasonry, Tarot and The Tree of Life After the popularity of our Freemasonry and Tarot issue (Nov. 2019) the editor in charge, Former SCRL Lodge Master Jeriel Smith, had much more in his arsenal of research to share. We agreed to another visit on such topic, and judging by the response, we made t...he right decision. As polarizing as this subject can be to some Masons it shows how far reaching the symbolism of our Craft expands. Freemasonry is NOT the Tarot, we don’t say that at all in this study. However, Masons have created groups that devote their work to the study of the Tarot and many of the Tarot cards reflect Masonic symbolism and that’s worth the understanding. Thank you for making this issue our third most popular issue of the year. Visit us at: www.TheResearchLodge.com See more

What was YOUR favorite issue of 2020? With all the challenges faced in 2020 we at the SCRL fought on to bring you the monthly publication Fraternal Review. It has been a pleasure and a previledge to serve our Masonic brothers and non-Masons that supported our little ‘family’ run publication. Without you we wouldn’t exist and for that we are thankful for your support. Next year will be an even more exciting one, but more on that later. On New Yea’s Day we will reveal the... most popular issue of 2020 based off digital downloads. And for the first time offer physical copies of said issue to purchase straight from our website. Have a safe and healthy holiday season. Check back on New Years Day! To subscribe visit: www.TheResearchLodge.com See more
