Dr. Joel Kim, PT, DPT, CFMT, CSCS,*D recently achieved two major accomplishments. He received a Certification of Functional Manual Therapy (CFMT) and became a distinguished Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Distinguished adds another level to his existing CSCS credentials. ....... In the approximately 40 years that the Institute of Physical Art (IPA) has been around, less than 400 physical therapists in the world are currently certified in Functional Manual ...Therapy. CFMT is a recognition that a physical therapist has reached a certain level of competency or understanding, integrating and applying the principles and procedures taught in the curriculum from the IPA. This includes evaluating and treating all mechanical, neuromuscular, and motor control deficits utilizing PNF principles for mobilizations of various regions of the human body, as well as utilizing palpation and/or various colored flags/safety screening for clinical decision making. ....... CSCS,*D stands for a distinguished certified strength and conditioning specialist. It is a recognition from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) to an individual for one’s commitment to self-improvement through the NSCA. .... Dr. Scott Lee working with a patient on the Pilates reformer giving a visual on how to properly utilize their core with exercises. This is a great exercise for those that want to get stronger with lifting and having more control with movements. A stable base (your trunk) will allow your extremities (arms and legs) to work more efficiently. Also a great exercise for individuals that may have low back pain.

Scott Lee, PT, DPT, ATC is now accepting new patients at our Culver City office. Dr. Lee received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from California State University, Long Beach and completed his residency in becoming an Orthopedics Clinical Specialist at California State University, Long Beach. He also graduated from Chapman University with his Bachelors in Science in Athletic Training. He is currently an adjunct faculty at California State University, Long Beach teaching Do...ctor of Physical Therapy students. Scott has a unique history of working with USA Taekwondo, USA Judo, US open Skate and BMX, and Junior Kings Ice Hockey. Scott‘s goal in life is to help as many people as possible, through education and direct patient care. During his free time, Scott likes to create his own art through linoleum carving and stamps, weekly 4am hikes, eating at the best local restaurants and early morning workouts. See more
