Cañada College students, some of whom are Promise Scholars, spent their time on Friday volunteering with the San Mateo County Community College District to distribute food to needy families in San Mateo County.

The Foundation continues to participate in the weekly food distribution on the College of San Mateo campus. As part of community-building, CSM football players are also participating alongside off-duty San Mateo police officers. To build mutual respect and support, the players and the police officers had lunch together after the volunteer activity, and will continue to hold conversations.

SMCCCD is offering free Wi-Fi for students at Cañada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College. Students can come to any of the three campuses park in the Drive-Up Wi-Fi lot, and enjoy free Wi-Fi from the District! Reservations are required. Students need to pick a campus, fill out the form, print or download their Eventbrite ticket, and follow the instructions. Restrooms are available, and students have in/out privileges all day. Throughout the summer, Foundation staff has joined the District and Second Harvest Food Bank in distributing food to needy families every Friday at College of San Mateo. This food distribution is continuing into the fall. And tomorrow, Skyline College will also launch a weekly free drive-thru community market to reach people in the northern part of the county. https://skylineshines.skylinecollege.edu//skyline-college/
