Doing access control on this "Cheese Grater" turn-style yesterday over at Blue Apron. We get a lot of unique requests but this was a first for me. Worked perfectly.

Almost got it. Just needed a longer bucket handle.

Working at Blue Apron today with the new guy Rushawn. Makes you think, what bad choices did we make where we're wearing beard nets and working in what is essentially a huge freezer? Nice folks here but, glad we're just visiting and this isn't our daily. :)

So I saw this on the news but didn't know we'd be getting the call to get this open. Someone broke in to this convenience store and tried to rip this ATM out of the store with a chain. Did not happen but man, they wrecked it. Definitely not a "technical" opening: just a couple prybars and a right angle grinder to get her open. Couldn't even get the cash boxes out once we got it open.

-Other pics from our trip to Universal City. We flew Jet suite X which beats the heck out of flying commercial out of Oakland/SFO. Intermountain really takes care of their VIPs. The Hilton was of course great. We were invited to the VIP dinner at Universal studios after the park closed. They kept the Minion ride open for us and even gave us a private tour of the park. Robert and I took advantage of Universal City Walk and had a couple good meals, saw a few movies, Voodoo Donuts of course, and a couple photo ops. No pictures from the show itself but they hooked it up with prime rib, taco bar, shrimp cocktails, sushi, etc. Robert wins the award for getting the most locksmith "swag" at the show.

Robert and I flew down to Burbank for the IMLSS show last week. We took a safe manipulation class which was really cool. This is, in my opinion, a lost art and I'm really appreciative that it is still taught. We've opened a lot of safes by drilling and scoping but never by manipulation. I gotta tell you, It was a great feeling when that fence finally dropped in. I'm going to pat myself on the back and mention that I was the first one to open my lock and won a "not yet in production" safe tool from Keedex. We went on to do several more and feel like with a little more practice, we'll be ready to try one in the field.

Opened this guy the other day. Older Meilink fire safe. The owner hadn't been in it in a couple decades and forgot the combo. These have all plastic lock components (which seems pretty scary to me) and replacement parts aren't available so if the owner wants to re-use the safe after drilling you can't damage any of that. But there's a cool drill point that can save the lock and provide a quick entry. It pays to know your containers.

Big Horn, big problem? Nah.... Had a Securam swing bolt on it. Easy drill but it had a deep door and the one thing I don't like about these is as you're drilling the hard plate, the interior of the door flexes so you watch how fast you advance with your rig.

Robert and I went out to drill open this TL-30 the other day. A big name locksmith had gone out to open it but walked on it. It had a fired case relocker. We had a known combination so dialed that in then went to work making a hole. Lock case was about 5" back behind dual ball bearing plate. Once in, we made a little wire tool to pull back on the relocker and we were in. Good stuff.

Had to drill this Mutual TL-15 open that was abandoned by a tenant that went dark. The lock is protected by glass so no drilling thru the door or you break the glass and the spring loaded relocker bolt is fired. (Think "Italian Job) So we had to transfer our drill points over to the side, drill thru the container side, the door, boltwork and all to get to the lock. It took an 18" carbide to drill off the bolt. Voila

Todays victim: This composite AMSEC safe. Composite meaning it is rated for both burglary and fire. Many safes this size are just burglary rated. Pulled the dial, drilled an appropriately placed 1/4" hole to scope it and dial open.

You have to enjoy the simple things like taking down these signs after your service call and handing them to the maintenance team. This one from County Connection in Concord.

A night of classics. After the 73' Vette had to get into this 54' (I think) Chevy Deluxe trunk. Keys were supposed to b inside but...no. Keys lost.

After AAA coming out and saying they couldn't help with this; and another locksmith coming out and also taking 3 large steps backwards (name omitted to protect the talentless) Nick was referred to us. I like to read down the door key thru the window and cut a new key but it was hanging on edge and I couldn't really make out the cuts. I got an idea however and worked the appropriate rocker picks til she was open. Nick = super happy w/Slim Jim;s. .

Robert and I put these in at a Sportsman's warehouse last week. 3 single door Tridents (3 point locking devices), this formidable double door Trident setup with delayed egress (top) and a new Securitech multipoint locking mortise lock with interior panic. This is the second location we've done for them and the GC Mike is always happy with our work.

-Made this customer super happy. She tells me several other locksmiths refused to help with her BMW lockout but somebody said "call Slim Jims!". There in 20 minutes. Picked it open. Everybody goes home happy.

-Got to use this new tool this morning (5:00 A.M. BTW...) Air wedge the double doors, slide the tool thru and get it sitting on the thumb turn and twist from the outside to unlock the door. Slicker then snot!

Isaac looking very focused practicing with the Kwikset Smart lock reader. These locks can't be picked but with this tool, and a lot of practice, you can make a key. The tool slides into the keyway and has a little mirror on the end reflecting back an image of the wafers. By learning what you are looking at, you can determine the cuts of the key and cut a new one. This tool is going to be extra valuable when you are locked out of a KEVO Bluetooth lock and don't want to risk damage by forceful entry.
