Let get powered up!

We have experienced a rapid transition in the types of services and work that we perform here at Skelly Electric. For the past decade we have primarily been involved with new construction projects at schools, multi-residential units, commercial buildings, and installing Big Ass Fans. This year, our primary focus has transitioned to installing backup generators for Generac. Over a decade ago, we established a business relationship with them. This past year, this is almost all... we do. We have requests coming in daily for bids, installations, and/or service for backup generators. Our team is ready to go and moving forward to accommodate all of these requests. Yes, we still perform work in all our usual areas, but we know that diversity in our portfolio and being able to adapt to economical shifts is important for longevity. This is how we've been serving the San Diego region for over 40 years and will continue to do so. We are certified installers AND service technicians for Generac.

Fire Safety message from Skelly Electric. On my first fan job here with Skelly Electric, I started a fire. I took steel outside to be cut with the chop saw. 15 feet away was a 3x3 spot of bare ground with a hand-sized patch of dry growth. It caught fire. And before anything else happened (not like there was any nearby fuel anyways), I stamped it out. Stating that fire season is approaching is a misnomer. We live in a dry area and fires are a risk all year round. It is beca...use of the danger of fires that we here at Skelly Electric are experiencing a focal shift in the services we primarily provide. Because of the fire risk within the county, the local utility providers have implemented planned power outages and public safety power shutoffs when weather creates high risk fire conditions. This means that many rural customers have taken the opportunity to mitigate their loss of power, by investing in backup power options. This includes Generac generators that we get to install. On the flip side, there are dangers associated with fires. Whether they are initiated by lightning strikes, arc-faults, or carelessness. Here's what we want you to know about fire safety. Fire prevention and fire protection sound similar, but are two different approaches to fire safety. Fire prevention consists of the measures that we take to prevent a fire from occurring in the first place. This includes keeping work spaces clean and tidy. It is expected that when installing or making changes to an electric panel, that it is cleared of foreign debris/matter, and that wires are neatly organized and properly insulated to limit chances of arc-faults. Keep combustible material away from sources of heat or ignition. Always double check your work to be confident of a clean install that reduces any chances of fueling or starting a fire. Fire protection consists of measures taken once a fire has started and the goal is to minimize damage and harm. Skelly Electric has a number of fire extinguishers that are readily available in each of its vehicles should a fire occur. Note their location and know that they are ready at a moments notice. This is one of the benefits of using a company vehicle when addressing job assignments. Lastly, during the hotter months, try to wear clothing that is not only light, but fire resistant. When working with hot panels or live power, we have special suits designed to protect you in case of an arc fault. Stay safe. Stay cool. See more

We've been experiencing a large number of requests for the installation of backup generators. We've partnered up with Generac to install AND service their generators. With fires in the west, hurricanes in the east, and other natural disasters throughout the world, generator and parts suppliers such as Generac are being asked to meet a rapid rise in demand for backup power and services. ... This increase in demand has strained their supply. We too are struggling with this increase in demand as our expected installation dates get pushed back even further due to delivery delays. Know this: That the world will not end tomorrow (At least we hope. 2020 keeps pushing that envelope). We too are waiting to be able to fulfill your backup power needs and services and will do so as soon as we possibly can.

PSA: If you can't hire a professional with the right equipment to clean your solar panels, the best thing to do is just use water and a soft brush or cloth. Clean them once a month (not including months with lots of rain) for optimal performance. https://www.solarpowerworldonline.com//pro-tip-never-use-/

From our website, posted almost 10 years ago. Solar energy has permeated nearly every corner of our nation. Next, it may become home generators (backup).
