SJSU Newman Center 22.02.2021

Hello Newmanites! This Thursday (2/18) @ 4:30 PM, we will be having our first talk of the semester! We are excited to have Fr. Andrew C. Nguyen, the diocese of San Jose’s vocation director, come back and help give a talk titled Invitation to Love and Serve. Fr. Andrew will be exploring the love in marriage life vs the love in religious life in his talk. As always, you will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the talk. The Diocese of San Jose Vocations Office is inviting all single young adult men ages 18-35 to a Single Men's Virtual Retreat. If you are considering entering the priesthood or just simply interested in learning more about this vocation, this retreat is for you! The Diocese of San Jose Vocations Office is inviting all young adult women ages 18-25 to a Women's Virtual Retreat on discernment and vocations. The retreat includes Mass, Holy Hour, Q&A with the sisters, talks in both English and Spanish, and more! As college students, many of us are still in the process of discerning our vocations. This is a great opportunity for anyone who would like to learn more about the beauty of the vocations of marriage and of consecrated life. More information and the sign-up link can be found below! Gary Thomas, our Diocese’s mandated exorcist, will help us explore the 4 means of protection that we can use to protect ourselves. If you have questions that you have always wanted to ask an exorcist, this Friday is also your chance! There will be a question and answer portion at the end of the ...talk as always. Hello Newmanites! Due to the pandemic, many of us feel that discernment has gotten very challenging, especially since most of us are still sheltering in place or limiting ourselves from going outside. This Friday during our weekly club meeting, Fr. Cameron Faller, the director of vocations from the Diocese of San Francisco, will be giving a presentation with the title, Discernment During COVID-19. He will help provide some tips on how we can continue to discern God’s will for us amidst the pandemic. There will be a Question and Answer portion at the end of the talk as always. Joseph Benedict, our interim director, will offer the mass to pray for our Newman Community. Hello all current Newmanites! Thank you all who participated in the Sweatshirt Design contest. Please vote for your favorite sweatshirt design at tinyurl.com/votenewmandesign. The sweatshirts are free for all current Newman members. Since we will not be meeting at the Newman Center this year, we might be able to ship the sweatshirt directly to your home depending on if we have enough funding.
