SJSU Alums doing good things...

Update for SJSU Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble: We're looking at THURSDAY (9/3) to begin rehearsals. Here's what is needed: Masks for horn players with the slit in them for the mouthpiece - check.... Social distancing while rehearsing - check. Disinfect the music stands after rehearsal - easy to do. Rehearse outside - no problem. Bell covers for horns - WAITING FOR THEM TO ARRIVE. They should be here sometime late today or tomorrow (Tues.) So, we're aiming for a Thursday rehearsal. Friday group this week as well on Friday with Trujillo. Stay tuned.

Rehearsals for Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble will likely begin this Thursday (9/3) and possibly on Tuesday (9/1). Stay tuned. Waiting on a bit more info from Dr. Cohen. Please spread the word to fellow students in these ensembles not on FB.

Jazz Orchestra auditions will be OUTSIDE THE MUSIC BUILDING behind my office in between the music bldg and the art bldg. Drummers, we'll audition in room 186. Come find me by my office and I'll let you in for your audition. Sorry, facilities are being very specific about building use due to covid.

On today, August 11, 2020 at the virtual City of San José, California City Council meeting there will be a celebration of the life of San Jose's Ambassador of Jazz, trumpeter Eddie Gale. The meeting itself starts at 1:30 PM Pacific Standard Time. There is no time certain for the dedication designated so far.
