Hi everyone! Below is a copy of an email Professor Gigi Smith sent me. I hope it clears up and of the confusion there is about what meetings are for ELM advising and what is advising for the Pre-OT major. At the meeting last week it was a little confusing so here is a summary: Hi Lauren, The meeting copied below if for all declared OT majors (Pre-OTs). It is a regular advising session to make sure everyone is on the right track. It is a mandatory meeting. We can also discuss... admission to the ELM program. Pre-OT Major Advising Sessions for Fall 2014 (Location: All information sessions will be held at the Central Classroom Building (CCB) 209 except as indicated. OT Majors must attend an advising session this semester!) All Pre-OT major students must attend one of the following advising sessions in order to have their registration hold removed: March 18th at 12:30 - 1:00 pm and 4:30 - 5:00 pm April 8th at 12:30 - 1:00 pm The other meeting (below).is for non-OT majors who want to eventually apply to the ELM program and are here on campus. You can also go to that meeting if you wish, but some of the info will be what you already know (pre-requisites, admission criteria). *Attention non-OT majors interested in pursuing a career in occupational therapy. There are two information meetings scheduled designed to cover key points for pursuing a future career in occupational therapy, including how to apply for the Entry Level Master’s (ELM) program here at SJSU. All information sessions will be held at the Central Classroom Building (CCB) 209 except as indicated. Hope to see you there! (Campus Map to locate CCB) Entry Level Masters (ELM) Information Sessions (open to all) March 11th at 12:30 - 1:30 pm April 2nd at 12:00 - 1:00 pm *(This information session will feature a panel of current ELM students!) April 23rd at 12:00 - 1:00 pm *(This information session will feature a panel of current ELM students!) The third meeting that is listed from 5:00-7:00 pm is given by Karen Papesh. It is a comprehensive meeting about the ELM OT program. Most of the people attending this meeting are not from SJSU. You can also go to that meeting if you wish. There is a video of the meeting on the website as well. However.... all Pre-OT majors at SJSU must attend one of the first 3 meetings designated as Pre-OT major advising meetings. If the student is in the Special Major they can come to this meeting, or they can go to another meeting. Hope this clarifies it and doesn't further confuse! Take care, Dr. Gigi
