Singing Frogs’ veg and photos made it into National Geographic online! . Repost from @natgeo Mounting evidence shows that many of today’s whole foods aren't as packed with vitamins and nutrients as they were 70 years ago, potentially putting people's health at risk. Tap the link in bio to read this subscriber- exclusive story. Photo by @lucasfogliaphoto .... We are thrilled to have participated in studies looking at Regenerative Ag and nutrient density with David Montgomery and Anne Biklè and thankful that it is getting attention such as this. . There’s an ongoing debate about whether organic produce is more nutritious than conventionally grown, but it’s a moot point Montgomery says the effects of farming practices on soil health are a better lens through which to view the nutrient content of crops. . Unfortunately the story is paywalled. Check also link in bio to article on our website with open source journal article, plus link to Montgomery and Biklè’s upcoming book on the subject What your food ate June 2022. #regenativefarming #regenerativeagriculture #regenerativerevolution #nutrientdense #nutriendenseveggies See more

Join us for a spring and summer of Bountiful Blooms with our flower CSA! Gift it to your loved one (or yourself) for Valentine's Day ...or just because! Our trail blazing flower farmers from the last two years have moved onto other farming related ventures and are much missed. Gladly, they left a legacy as we fell in love with the bountiful flowers that feed our souls just as our produce feeds our bodies. We're determined to keep it a part of Singing Frogs. Farmer Paul grew ...a bounty of flowers early on ('08-'09) and we let it go to the fringes as we focused on developing our model of intensive, regenerative vegetable production. We're thrilled to bring that knowledge back full circle to growing bountiful flowers. Organic, local and no-till flowers are about 10 years behind vegetables but there is a deep interest that keeps growing. Paul and Elizabeth had a lot of fun presenting on soil and no-till in the context of flowers last month to the @European Association for Flower Growers (you can still watch recorded session). We are ready for an even earlier flower season this year with over 2,500 baby flower starts in the nursery that will begin going out into the fields this week. Plus, we have Ranunculus, Anemone (that is already blooming!), Narcissus and Larkspur already growing for months in the field and we are increasing our flower specific perennials on the farm. We hope you'll join our Flower CSA! #notillfarming #notillflowers #flowercsa #csa #sebastopol #sonomacounty

Sound ON for Singing Frogs rejoicing after the rain! Our lower fields have our 3 seasonal ponds and are full of life this time of year. These fields (because of the potential for flooding) are not our most productive just now including cover crops, black occultation covers (many on already terminated cover crops) and just a few crops. Our upper field are those from which we’re harvesting for CSA today.

Happy Inauguration Day! These red, white and blue first Anemone popped out at us as we were listening to the inauguration and harvesting for CSA today. We’re so hopeful that our dramatic change in administration will be good for so many of the things we hold dear including equality and health within our communities, climate change, ending systemic racism, support for local food systems, a Green New Deal, and much more.

For locals and those far away... join Sonoma County Climate Activist Network (SoCoCAN!) for our 2021 Community Summit on Zoom, Sunday, January 10 from 2-5 PM. The Climate Summit is a call to action, a call to connect, a call to build on common ground featuring educators, community members, experienced activists, youth activists, organizations and experts. . Farmer Elizabeth and many other local climate change movers are excited to see important work shared about indigenous ...practices, connecting with the land, on reducing our dependence on fossil fuels, on educating the public about the dangers of forest-based biomass, the beauty and biodiversity of post-fire forests and promoting resilient communities living in fire-prone lands. We will discuss regenerative agriculture and regenerating soils, the Green New Deal, climate justice, racial and social justice, and regional climate policy. . Our purpose is to unite local groups and concerned citizens so that we can meet this new decade with a clear vision of actions that address the social, political and environmental challenges of our time. All are invited to attend. Want to see more regenerative farms world wide, expanding on traditional agriculture and empowering indigenous communities to farm ecologically? Yok Jinix is a 49 acre incubator farm in the Mayan indigenous communities near Chiapas, Mexico. Founder Miguel Robles (also founder of Soil Not Oil Coalition) is applying everything he has learned through Soil Not Oil plus working with various farms like our own. After the first year, they're increasing their production to feed their community, collaborating with Mayan farmers with the goal of creating an agro-ecological education center. If you have the means to support projects on Giving Tuesday please donate and share this with folks that may be interested in supporting this important work.
