The Simon Wiesenthal Center and Museum of Tolerance in partnership with Club Z present a 3-part series entitled Jew-Hatred Exposed: Voices Beyond the Conventional. The first panel discussion on Sunday, January 10, 2pm PST/5pm EST addresses How Did Antisemitism Become Anti-Zionism? Jew-Hatred Exposed, and takes a critical look at today’s most potent and misdiagnosed variety of anti-Semitism: anti-Zionism. Enemies of the Jewish people and the State of Israel have successfully p...eddled anti-Zionism, masquerading as a form of human rights, on college campuses, in the media, and in our schools, making the fight against Jew-hatred difficult to both identify and combat. The panel is made up of Dr. Judea Pearl, UCLA professor, prolific writer, and activist who will discuss the dangers of Zion-phobia; Mark Weitzman, SWC Director of Government Affairs whose work on the IHRA definition has paved the way for many international governments and institutions to include anti-Zionism as a form of anti-Semitism; and Dr. Naya Lekht, Director of Education at Club Z, a teen Zionist movement, who has developed a unique approach to teaching about anti-Semitism. The event will be moderated by Rabbi Abraham Cooper, Associate Dean and Director of Global Social Action for SWC. The Simon Wiesenthal Center expresses its condolences to the wife and family of Art Waldinger, premiere photographer, and first-class mensch. Art was the early chronicler of the first decades of the Simon Wiesenthal Center. We will miss his smile, wit, and friendship.

One day Simon called and said that he would like to celebrate his 90th birthday with a few friends in Vienna. I asked him where he would like to celebrate. He said, ‘I have one unfulfilled wish, to have a party at the Imperial Hotel.’ He told me that it was Hitler’s favorite hotel and that both Hitler and Himmler had permanent suites there. They built enormous bunkers beneath the hotel, which still exist today, because Hitler thought that this would serve as an ideal hea...dquarters from where he could conduct the Second World War. During the Third Reich, it would have been unthinkable, Simon said, for a Jew to be seen at the Imperial Hotel. ‘And I want to make sure,’ he said, ‘that all the taboos of the Third Reich are broken and that the record of this hotel would affirm that Simon Wiesenthal celebrated his 90th birthday here with a Kosher dinner.’ On the night of the dinner, when the band played a favorite Yiddish song, ‘Belz, Mein Shtele Belz’ (Belz, My Little Shtetl Belz), he looked up at the ceiling, turned to me, and said: ‘You see even the chandeliers are shaking because this is the first time they have ever heard such music here. Let the record read,’ he said, ‘that Hitler is no longer here, but even in the Imperial Hotel, Jews are still alive and still singing.’ - Rabbi Marvin Hier reflecting on what would have been Simon Wiesenthal’s 112th birthday today. Eighty years ago this month, in October 1940, the infamous Warsaw Ghetto, the largest in Nazi-occupied Europe, was established. Over 80,000 Jews died as a result of the appalling conditions, overcrowding and starvation. This ultimately led to the heroic Warsaw Ghetto uprising, led by a small band of Jewish resistance fighters in 1943. Two unique photos from the Simon Wiesenthal Archives offer a rare glimpse into Jewish life in the Ghetto. Pictured (left) two children sitting ...in front of a store in the Warsaw Ghetto in 1940; (right) the inside of the Warsaw Ghetto at Leszno and Karmelicka Street taken in November 1940, the month the Ghetto was closed off. These two unique photos are part of the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s rich archival holdings culled from around the globe. (Photos Courtesy Bildarchiv Preussischer Kulturbesitz)

Significant victory as @Twitter follows Facebook to ban #HolocaustDenial. We hope other social media giants will follow suit. Now Twitter should boot genocide-seeking, terrorism-sponsoring #AyatollahKhamenei from Twitter’s multilingual platforms. https://www.forbes.com//twitter-following-facebook-repor/
