Congratulations to our Class of 2020 Instrumental Music Seniors!!!

Here is a promotional video that we made to provide our SVHS area elementary and middle school students and parents, or any transfer families a glimpse of what we offer. We had over 80-85 students do a short testimonial, but due to a limitation of 20 minutes, we were not able to use them all (we will use them in shorter promos or features as the year goes on). This has been emailed to all SVHS area elementary school principals, as well as Valley View Middle School principal and Mr. Schuster to share with their campuses. To the students, parents, and alumni of the Simi Valley High School Instrumental Music Department: This will be my last year teaching at SVHS. You have all helped to make the last 6 1/2 years some of the most memorable of my life. I came into this job with no clue of what I was supposed do and those of you who were with us back in the winter of 2012 know how rough starting out as a new teacher can be sometimes... but most of you stuck it out with me, and in doing so, have hel...ped to create something indescribable and beyond worthwhile. I have been forever changed by each and every one of you and as I look back, I am filled with happiness and so very glad that I took the risk of taking over a program that had been battered down a little bit. It had barely 60 students when I began, no music library or organization to speak of, more broken instruments than working without an inventory list of any use among other things... but what it did have was passion, it had faith, and it had a plethora of amazing students and families who continue to this day to show their extraordinary and superhuman efforts to keep the things they love afloat, upright, and shipshape. It is so painful for me to say goodbye. This has been my home, goodness knows I spent more time here than anywhere else for quite some time, and it was all worth it. To you graduating seniors, thank you! I'm so proud of all of you. I am so excited to see what have yet to do, so please keep in touch. To all of you soon-to-be seniors, don't fret. You have some amazing momentum built up, and I know that next year will be the best one for you yet. Trust in yourselves, in each other, in your staff, and in your new director and I know great things will continue to happen, every day. To all of you in your first or second year, keep on keeping on. I am overwhelmed by your talent, your energy, and your passion for music and life. I know the music department is in good hands. This program is bigger than any one person and as long as all of you continually strive to be the best you can be, excellence will most certainly follow, as will all the great times that have helped to define you since I've known you all. I was so fortunate to have been a part of your lives, and even more fortunate for all of you to have been a part of mine. A heartfelt goodbye to Mr. Pracher. We have had the privilege of a GREAT music teacher here at SVHS. Our music program has grown immensely, he’s inspired our children, and has made a lasting impact on so many lives. Thank you Mr. Pracher, there can never be another you! From your SVHS Music Family, we wish you the very best!!!

2017/2018 Music Banquet is over. Our director brings out the best in these kids, always makes them strive to be better individuals and it shows! Congratulations to all our graduating seniors, you’ll be miss by all! Watch out world, here they come!
